I'll be the first to admit that I suck at PvP, but it's hard to improve when you don't necessarily want to use what's best. Any tips? this scenario is something I go through on a regular basis. Also, I'm not bashing the weapon or playstyle of my opponent, I just want to improve.
I know that HC's are the meta because of their high burst damage and peek shooting capabilities, but in this footage I'm the one trying to use cover and my opponent is clearly out in the open easily taking me out and everyone else.
Note: I know that the weapon my opponent has is thorn, but as I already stated this is something I go through whether it be Thorn, Ace, Fate bringer, and all of the rest of the popular HC's.

Edited by Hawpy: 1/28/2022 5:52:14 PMA few points that I've picked up on, and a lot of it just traces back to Hand Cannons being superior. - in the specific case of Auto Rifle vs Hand Cannon, using cover like that actually works in your opponent's favour, because they don't need to continuously be shooting to kill as quickly as possible nut you do - their first shot was a body shot, you'd have likely won if they were using any other 140 Hand Cannon other than Thorn, damage buffs excepted, because they'd have needed one extra shot - not something that applies to every engagement but a definite factor in this one - they were jittering and threw a crouch into their movement; much like using cover, this has basically no effect on a Hand Cannon's optimal TTK, but it will ruin an Auto Rifle because you need to make every shot count and it's very easy for them to make you miss a shot or two with each move. Auto Rifles have the very unfortunate problem of having no real advantages over Hand Cannons in Crucible, Scouts and Pulses can stay well away from HCs, Sidearms and SMGs can be super aggressive and beat them in CQC, Bows are perfect for team-shotting and will usually make a HC user back off immediately, whereas Auto Rifles can't do anything to counter them. I think SUROS Regime with Spinning Up can do some real work if you want can learn to use it almost like a Fusion Rifle, and Dual-Speed Receiver lets you stay mostly beyond a Hand Cannon's range, but it doesn't solve the imbalance between the two weapon types. Also, don't sleep on Sweet Business - it's pretty much a meme, but people have long since forgotten that it has one of the best TTKs of all weapons, period - we're talking faster than a 140 Hand Cannon even while hitting a 0% precision rate. It is also deceptively accurate and can compete at surprisingly long ranges. So what if they know you're coming?
