Just curious to see what others think.
I personally don't like them from a wasted time aspect. Let's just assume the average player maybe dies 10 to 12 times in a match. The longer respawn timer is 7 seconds - although, considering the time it takes for a player to get back into the fight, it's more like 10 to 12 seconds. That's 70 to 144 seconds, or 1:10 to 2:24 minutes spent doing literally nothing per match.
Imagine how much worse new players have it. They literally get to do nothing but stare at a respawn screen and they don't even get to know how they died or how to get better because we still lack kill cams or any form of in-depth loadout death screens.

I understand and agree with some of what you say. I think actively playing is always more enjoyable. And making the death moment informative rather than strictly a penalty would help. With that said, I also appreciate the choice. Dying should feel bad. Not being on the field affecting the game to the benefit of your team should not be a desirable state. I think the lengthier, more punishing time incentivizes you to preserve your life. This invited a new set of problems though, or exacerbates existing ones. People are scared. They don't leave spawns. They don't fight for advantage or the win condition. They don't understand how to utilize their radar or choose their positioning. So when people die, the better team has even more time to herd and spawn trap them.

Edited by ben: 1/8/2022 6:08:02 PMIt honestly makes no difference to me, Ive barely noticed it. If I had to give an answer Id say it's a good thing because the only respawn based mode that I play is Rumble and lo-blam!- respawns keeping people downed for lo-blam!- makes it more reasonable to control a map. When respawns were fast I could kill someone, then be right in an engagement with someone else, win that engagement, and the guy I killed first would be up in time to clean me up when I was weak which wouldn't happen often but it always felt like a stupid way to die. You have way more influence on the flow of the game when people take lo-blam!- to respawn. Edit: theres no way "nger" is censored lmfao what is going on? How are we supposed to say the word "longer" without evading the filter? New web devs please

Make them even lo-blam!- imo.

1 ReplyI still get shot dead instantly when I spawn in sometimes. Respawns need to be, • A random spot • Far away from the enemy • Not in the enemy’s line of sight. • The player spawning in should be invincible but unable to attack for a few seconds.

The match balancing hasn't changed, the timers adjust nothing except now I have to sit on my hands and stare at the person who killed me lo-blam!- than before. And then get spawn trapped whenever a team smart / fast enough to abuse the additional time comes into play.

It's original intent was to prevent spawn trapping - with that in mind, didn't work out that way

Makes it easier to stagger enemy spawns and spawn trap them if you have a good team. It sucks.

2 RepliesEdited by Overlord Omega: 1/7/2022 8:39:17 AMEveryone complains about everything in crucible. Despite every weapon type having at least one viable option they still are mad at unbalance(sometimes justly so, especially concerning some subclasses). Now generally I can pass this off as natural. I have games where I get mad at DMT too or something that I personally find cheesy. Bungie struggles but is always twisted and pushed into different directions of how to respond. That being said, the extended timers are the dumbest thing ever added ever. Literally pointless. The reason that I assume they were added for, doesn’t even work and even if it did, it was so low on the totem poll of problems I am blown away they cared. Change them back. TL:DR get rid of the bonus timer seconds.

Definitely don’t like it. Personally feel it hasn’t helped anything and mostly just leads to being dead for longer portions of the match. Maybe it’s helping in ways I can’t perceive, but in my perception, it’s not great.

I like and I don't like it. I understand why they did and I do feel the difference . But at the same time it doesn't fix the core issue. Which is 6v6 game modes on maps that were designed for 4v4 modes. And the horrible game balance algorithm . Where it puts you with horrible players on purpose 8/10 times cause it "thinks" you can make them win. Like bruh I want it to be back like how it was in season of arrival Era.

I’ve noticed it not only is a bigger inconvenience as personally I hated waiting 5s and now even more, but I’ve also noticed how easier it is to camp spawns which makes it even worse when you waited 7s to wait another 7s as soon as you spawn. ^this coupled with the fact that matchmaking for crucible has been absolutely dog water for a hot minute, is making PvP extremely unenjoyable

I'll just say I don't like it, this is only because I don't really notice any changes with my matches.
