Cheating in Crucible with Mouse/Keyboard Emulators on Consoles

I've been seeing it a lot in recent months, either that or it's more rampant with cross-play OR I just started noticing it recently. I have D2 on both PC and XSX, and I stopped playing on PC because my wrists are too damaged - it hurts to play with m/kb now, so I'm only on console. I can easily spot the difference between Console/PC players in Crucible, so I searched the webs and after only 30 seconds of looking, I discovered that there's m/kb emulators out there that people have been using for years. It seems like it's more often a Playstation player than the other consoles, although it does seem to happen on all consoles at point or another. Mostly PS, sometimes Xbox, and Idk about Stadia... but there's only like 7 people in the whole world that play on Stadia so w/e... I don't know how much it would help, but disabling cross-play would make a significant and noticeable difference at the very least. Can we get an in-game option to disable cross-play in Crucible?

  • Console players can disable Cross Play from the appropriate settings menu. Console players will only be matched in PC pools if they manually join a pre-made frireteam with a PC player. Most likely not as common as people think, and people are just telling themselves the other team is using those accessories to make themselves feel better about their PvP loss. There’s no way to know 100% that someone is using M&K or anything else on console.

            • There is an option Go look for it (everyone you might play with - friends/clan etc has to turn it off for you to be able to go as a team) But let’s not turn this into a console war The problem is Bungie Desperate to boost the player numbers in PvP without improving the netcode, registration & testing the stability

              • UPDATES/FOLLOW-UPS: 1) Sony allows M/KB to play on consoles, Microsoft does not, hence the OP and suggestion of an in-game setting for disabling crossplay - at least for Xbox players. 2) If you disable it on Xbox Live (per moderators copy/pasting job) it disables it for ALL games, AND it only puts you in a cue with people that were able to find/change that setting. Having an in-game setting would make it more accessible, therefore more people would do it and you wouldn't be alone in matchmaking if you did. Again, if you disable it on Xbox Live (per moderators instructions) it basically makes it so you'll never match with anyone. In other words, if you don't want to play with M/KB players on PS4/PS5, moderator response is to essentially break matchmaking altogether. Neat. 3) A lot of you, including mod-bot, didn't catch the meaning of the in-game term that I used. So, for that, I apologize for not being clear enough. Just to be clear, I mean that setting should be in the game and not in some unintuitive Xbox Live General/Setting/Network/Privacy/Family (or whatever) location. 4) I don't have a good solution and I don't think this will ever get fully resolved through Bungie alone. However, the in-game setting would at least make a difference for Xbox players, so why not? If it's an easy to find setting that's in the game, I'm confident many people would use it and be happy about it. Not to mention that if Bungie just announced it in a TWAB, pretty sure a vast majority of people would jump on board.

                • I’m on Xbox and I e turned in a bunch of PS players this past weekend. The messages I got from Bungie saying the players have been dealt with were two players that had the highest amount of kills with zero deaths. There’s also a lot of lag between PS and Xbox. I noticed that when I get hit slide behind a wall and then get shot and killed like I got shot through the wall or cover but it’s definitely lag. The aimbot thing is just annoying. These dudes making crazy shots all crit.

                  • I'm not sure if that actually counts as cheating. Unless the COC/ TOS/ EULA actually say something like "no using alternative controller devices" on different platforms, I don't think they can do anything. Modded controllers are one thing, but MnK in place of a controller, I'm not sure, especially when games actually have crossplay enabled. I mean, unless there's detail for detail accurate theater modes or kill cams, good luck differentiating between players and cheaters.

                            • M&K emulators are undetectable to hardware and software, meaning you can’t spot them by eye either. It’s funny you say PlayStation players are more often the culprit, it makes it sound that all your seeing is lag, especially cross play induced lag and blaming it on M&K emulators.

                              • Better yet, they should add m&k support on console so that everyone has the option to use it. And once you enter an activity, it locks your input so you can't swap mid game, unlocking once you leave said activity

                              • If your wrist hurt from mnk then you're probably using it the wrong way. With mnk converters on console you're still restricted to rules that apply to controller. So in destiny on console you can not just do a quick 180 flick like you would do with mouse and keyboard on PC. So turn speed is limited. You do get the added benefit of having more buttons you can do things with. But people using custom controllers with additional back buttons also have those benefits. I personally find mnk a lot more comfortable then controller.

                                • I'm obviously not a fan of anyone using aim bots but I can't help but laugh at this topic n the people crying about xim n such. I thankfully don't play on console but it's definitely amusing how quick the controller players are to throw a fit when they think someone has some advantage over them. You guys run around abusing stuff like this: https://youtu.be/EcnhcmyNCLQ You think thats fine. You cheese the broken aim assist on chaperone, snipers, slugs, Lorentz n so on. You flood to every 100 aim assist weapon you can get your grubby hands on. Was vex mytho, it lost 25 aim assist and now it's 100 aim assist eyasluna. Then some of you even take it far enough to buy a device to use mnk and keep the aim assist lol. The uninformed clowns on console of course say omggg mnk with our aim bot aim assist omggg!!! Both groups are fools in this scenario. You have the idiots buying it not realizing it feels nothing like an actual mouse n you end up with awful acceleration issues. You have the cry babies throwing fits about it cuz omggg mnk on console that don't understand the situation at all either. Gotta say I'm glad to see you guys getting a taste of your own medicine. Your controller aim assist trash has made this game a miserable experience for anyone trying to start out on mnk for years now. You celebrated n laughed when pc had the cheating issue as well. So enjoy having your own aim assist aim bot used against you. Hopefully it will wake some of you up to the fact that the aim assist is ridiculous n way overboard for you controller cry babies. Before you even try to say it's not broken. Ask yourself why some of you buy devices to have a sloppy emulated mouse input with weird acceleration n such just to maintain controller aim assist in 1 single game lol.

A large reason I switched to pc, got tired of paying a monthly fee for Xbox to do -blam!- all about issues the service was facing when pc is free and genuinely has fewer cheaters. Who would of thought that would be an acceptable thing to say “pc has fewer cheaters” consoles a shitty place to be a gamer these days
