Halo AI bots for quitters

I dont like how theres so many quitters in Halo, I almost like the COD method for joining games in progress better. But, both systems have their flaws. I think theres a better way to do it. For unranked games only, it could be cool to drop in a AI bot for a quitting player. The AI is good enough these days that they can program the bot to do whatever the mission objectives are. That would be an interesting idea. Dont like it? How about this one. Allow new players to join the game to replace quitters up to a certain time limit in the game. Maybe after the first have of the game dont allow new players to join.. That would limit joining a game with 2 min left and losing by 50 points. Ya know!?

  • Either (a) the AI sucks, or (b) the AI is too good. Either way people would be whining. And I believe Bungie already stated that the reason they don't have bots is that Halo's AI engines are designed around "throw as many Elites at this guy as possible". As evidenced by the idiot friendly AI.

  • Except if Bungie made the AI's they just drive off cliffs, strafe like a crazy person without actually moving forwards, and have 100% accuracy with wraiths.

But most players hate to join in a loosing game and thus have their so precious w/l record damaged by it.[/quote] Or maybe they don't want to join a game when the other team has an insurmountable lead,full map control, and all the the power weapons and or your teams vehicles. One of my problems with open games is that you always seem to get stuck on the team that is getting it's ass kicked.

  • I would say give the people who stick around when their teammates quit a cR increase.Might be a way to boost that but it would be more fair then what it is now.

  • they could just throw in an option to end the game by vote when your team quits, everybody gets their credits and kills, and back to lobby to look for a full game. I'd vote to quit when the entire enemy team quits except one guy. And the last guy on a team doesn't deserve to be punished for quitting when he's 1 on 4.

Because if Bungie made the bots too hard, people would whine about that as well, so the bots would only be able to be of average levels which would be easily killed by most players. Plus the bots would be overly predictable on their movements most of the times and someone could just camp where a bot would come over and over and over again.

  • This idea would only work in objective matches where deaths do not count. I'm sure everyone here at one point has lost a slayer match only because a guy on your team went 2 and 20.

  • It would be a great idea, if the AI was smart enough. But they're dumb, and it wouldn't work. I occasionally get annnoyed when a teammate or two leaves and we're down, but I also hate it in MW2 when I join a game that's practically over, or the whole team has left for a good reason (Ex: Being absolutely wrecked). I suppose joining a game in progress, but being able to leave it for like 2 minutes without a quit-ban would be a good idea, but I'm not sure if that's really in Halo style. Whatever, Bungie will figure it out eventually, if they haven't already!

The AI would either be too good or too weak which would result in either easy kills for your team or easy kills for the other unbalancing the game. I say instead of having the quit ban. They should have a penalty for quitting games like a couple hundred cR or so.

  • I think something should be done to quiters anyways. Maybe if they quit and in their next game they run around with target on them or there bleep on the radar is a target and everyone gang up on them .lol
