Some of the guns I was trying to get last year got sunset before I could find a 'god roll' so I never got to experience that and now I never will. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the story and the new raid but it's just too painful to go to the vault now. Think about it for a minute. Nightfall and it seems an increasing number of other activities require the use of specific weapon types. You know, the ones where you are required to use guns that will work with with unstop/barrier/overload mods and now you are limited by sunsetting too. Wow what a great choice of gear I don't have! Don't even get me started on having to regrind for new versions of sunset weapons. That's just nuts and if you actually want to do that you should check yourself into the asylum now. Thought it might be ok at first. I noticed that Last Wish raid weapons and armour even the ones I already had in the vault had been given a reprieve and whilst some newer weapons were sunset these were not. For me a looter shooter should be giving the player the freedom to use any or all of the weapons they have at their disposal an not giving each a best before date. It just goes against everything I believe the game should be. We only have so much vault space and if you keep creating new guns I will run out of space. At that point though it will be up to me which weapons I keep and which I don't. I know some people will support it. But for all those of you that were crying out for Mountaintop to be sunset in crucible hope you are happy that everyone can just buy it now instead of having to do the fairly tough quest. And Jotun - the 'no skill kill' replacement for mountaintop - previously locked behind a five week long quest can now be bought for a token handed out free with the season pass. I know I've been killed by that way more than I was by mountaintop. Great job Bungie. By pandering to new players, just handing out tough to get exotics and sunsetting all the guns that your most loyal players have spent literally years earning you finally broken my spirit. With a heavy heart I say goodbye. I just can't take it anymore - I could not even summon the enthusiasm to do the 2nd part of the Hawkmoon quest. I'm sure its great but it can't make up for the betrayal that is sunsetting. Good luck to Bungie and to those of you who stay. Who knows, if sunsetting is scrapped you may well see me again some time in the future, but for as long as it remains a part of the game I will not.[/quote]

I don’t think sunsetting is the worst problem in the game. To me its the complete ignorance towards ritual activities.

How often to people keep using these old guns a year later, anyway? Mine sit in the vault and I never touch them again. There’s always new guns to get. Sunsetting is no big deal.

Your notion that a loot game should have years and years worth of guns be available and eternal viable IS the problem here. THAT IS A UNREALISTIC NOTION. No loot game can do that. No loot game has ever done that. The problem is that Bungie indulged a shooter gamer mindset of falling in love with gear...and tried to force fit it into a loot game...and you can’t do that. Instead of admitting that it didn’t work, Bungie scrambled for five years to keep up the illusion that it was working.... ...until they ran out of options last year... and the game started dying. All that boredom and “I don’t need any of the new guns?” “The game feels like homework and checking boxes” people were saying?? [b]Thats the sound of a loot game starting to die.[/b] Bungie sold you a LIE. They sold you (I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt) a [i]well-intentioned[/i] lie. But it was still a lie. You cannot keep your stuff forever in a loot game. If you try to do it you ultimately destroy the game. That expectation is unrealistic, but it’s Bungie’s fault that you have it. Because they refused to do the right thing five years ago and tell Destiny players that this wasn’t possible. Instead they intentionally FED that misguided notion. Now they have to face the anger that people feel when they realize that they’ve been lied to.

It sucks losing more than we are gaining every season. I’m losing dozens of possible options of weapons and armor next season

When Bunyon implemented sunsetting, they also planned their way of communicating to the community. It is clearly depicted by the 4 Ancient proverbial Mystic Apes. So your pvp pinocchio pinnacle weapons that you used to abuse level 2 noobs with in crucible got made defunct. They will eventually add more weapons as we all know so calm down.

i am tired of this forum i am tired of people posting about sunseting! Sunseting just removed 100% of content we never needed or was trash anyway. so be greatfull it is gone, it just adds more space for better future content.

People can't make posts like this and then be mad about the ftp approach they have to use to try to replace you.

I’m just gonna ride these last few years out for the story but I’m not grinding anymore. You all should do the same.

100% feel the same way as you. Destiny wasn’t just a game to me but an escape. As for the “new hawkmoon” ... it’s just a blueprint for sunsetting exotics as reusing old weapons takes far less of Bungie’s resources and an economic solution for their last few attempts at “content” all to string out Destiny’s limited lifetime $$$. If players can’t see what the new Bungie are planning and willing to commit to despite wide community admonition, then it’s just sad they have fooled so many. Destiny2 is not our Destiny.

I agree 100% and trust me Bungie knows everyone feels the same way and there cornered they better find a solution or there screwed.
