Make Thorn Great Again
Any handcannon enthusiast playing on console can tell you, trying to compete with a 150 HC is abysmal. People point to bloom and recoil. The fear of people complaining about a broken OP Thorn has resulted in the weapon of legend being neutered before we even got it out the box. Thorn, however fun, is a middling weapon when it comes to Pvp. Thorn. It's almost perfectly balanced, but feels like it's being held back in part to leave others safely superior.
It's not impossible to get kills with, but no one in their right mind would consider it a viable option in a competitive sense. Not with 180s, wavesplitters, Luna/nf, Ace, suros, you name it. The gun under performs unless shot at a slow interval that will often result in death from a gun that requires significantly less expertise to kill with.
The nerfs to some pinnacles could help in this department, or you could make bloom less severe on console for 150 hc. Something the community has begged for, for quite some time. In the very least, let it behave more like the percision frame of a 180. It is the fabled guardian killer after all. In life and lore.
A quality of life update, so its recoil pattern is more consistent. It should be an unruly, unwieldy, beast of a weapon with kick... But when paced out, it's behavior should be over all consistent and the pace shouldn't be so slow that it's stinted.
I will take what is mine with void fire and blood. I WILL TAKE IT. We will take back what was stolen from me and destroy those who wronged us! We will lay waste to armies and burn the crucible to the ground!

Would anyone care to comment on the rumors regarding a Thorn Catalyst fabled to address almost all of the above mentioned grievances/suggestions/solutions? I thoroughly appreciate and acknowledge it to be a much more desirable option now that console Crucible is not rampant with Luna's Howls, but I am excited at the premise of it being further tuned to feel more consistent. The attention and return to the Weapons of Sorrow and Ahamkara weaponry as we approach Shadowkeep and our return to the moon has been personally well received. The return of the D1 endgame tuned Necrochasm could be a fine addition for those that express a concern for a lack of Autorifles and Handcannon fatigue (No such thing. Pfft)

3 RepliesThorn has very predictable recoil. It, along with spare rations are pretty easy to use since they have 100 recoil direction. Just use cover to your advantage, and 150 hand cannons are nasty, on any platform.

1 ReplyThis...um, Thorn is wonderful. Could bloom be looked into? Maybe. But I consistently net 25 kills and up with it dude. Learn how to control the recoil.

I hope that in the future they make console weapons as consistent as on PC. It's almost like two completely different games.

Reduce or take away bloom on all weapons and then add more time when devouring souls and buff the range slightly bam fixed but heck what do I know

2 RepliesI’m not gonna lie, i play on xbox and thorn is my favorite HC past last word and crimson. The amount kick back makes the gun better for me. the bloom fix could be nice, but i want thorn to stay this hard to control death cannon i’ve come to love.

Thorn is actually really good on pc, bloom seems to be the issue on console, it should all just go away

4 RepliesIt really is a shame how things are on console vs pc. Having to grind again from scratch put me off for a while but I can say it is well worth it. Thorn feels very nice on PC, as do most handcannons.....as do most weapons... lol If only cross saving was a thing. :/

2 RepliesAs someone who used Thorn in D1Y1 I actually think Thorn is in a pretty good place right now the issue is less the gun and more just bloom in general. It’s in a pretty good spot for PvE and it does its job in PvP. I loved D1Y1 Thorn but it was stupid and I personally don’t think it should go back to that state.

25 RepliesBloom along with copious amount of recoil is just straight up raw dogging the console community. Any hand cannon that isn’t a precision is just unusable. What’s the point of a TTK if you can’t full reach it when using a weapon.
