• Because we don’t want to waste 3 hours to do 1/4 of the raid

    • People are busy. They rather do a raid with A. ) People they know and B.) People who know how to do it. Saves a whole lot of time and effort. Try making an LFG post, or look for clans who specifically do sherpas.

      •
So I’m pretty new to the destiny community but I’ve been turned down so many times for the raid that I’m almost ready to loss my head. It can’t be that hard to help someone with the raid even if they are fresh to the game!
Youre so underleveled for LW i wouldnt carry you either.

Why do experienced players avoid new players in their raids...? Generally speaking, one or more of the following apply: 1) New player goes in completely blind without any research prior to searching for a team...Then relies on the entire team to explain to him/her how each and every encounter works... 2) New player has an extremely limited load-out and/or low light level. 3) Sheer time investment needed to progress through the raid with someone who has never done it before. Suggestions: 1) Watch Youtube guides on every single encounter. Be sure to understand how each mechanic works prior to even searching for a team. REALLY understand the mechanics prior...I cannot stress this enough. 2) Gear wise: Farm EP for the shotgun and complete the Thunderlord quest...These two alone can be used throughout the raid. Complete ALL powerful activities in the Dreaming City (high tier armor perks are possible rolls ["enhanced"]) each week. Complete as many bounties as you can that give you "Transcendent Blessing" mods to equip on every piece of armor you have. YOU have to put some effort into preparing for your first raid. 9/10, new players who want to raid do NOT follow through with the 2 suggestions above.

      • Add me and I'll run it with you this week. I don't care if you know what you're doing or not, we'll get through it. You'll know what to do by the end😉. If you just wanna get through it and don't care how, most of the time you can just kill ads( some parts you'll have to pay attention though. Glad to do it. Because it's just a freaking game, and we should all be able to have fun.

      • Because explaining it is stupid and wastes a lot of time and 40% of the time the new player isent even listening. Like cmon guys do your research.

        • There’s always people out there willing to help, you could probably try out guided games in all honesty. But I’ll tell you one thing: never lie about your experience. If there’s one thing I hate more than incompetence, it’s liars. I’d rather take a noob through the raid than have to deal with somebody who refuses to ask for help and acts like they know what they’re doing, then screws up the whole encounter for us.

        • I only say no to people who dont know what to do. I accept people who havent done it before...but if you dont know what to do AT ALL you will not be joining many people. My advice is watch a quick walkthrough of how things work. It is how i did my first last wish raid. I looked through a video for first encounter and second encounter...then i completed those. Then i looked a video for the 3rd encounter...completed that and the 4th encounter because they said i could just do adds. The clips you watch provide a basis and the gameplay you do yourself will make you learn mechanics.

If you're talking about Leviathon then I understand. If you're talking about Last Wish... I really hope you're at a reasonable LL. Too many people try to say 'No one will help'... when they really haven't put in the effort to get to a point where they can be helped. I have a buddy that's like that. Every time when a new raid comes out he's like... "We should raid!" I ask, "What's your LL?" He responds with a slight hint of defense. "Around 520." *I look at the plethora of posts that need 540 or around that, you know, the LL I had been knowingly grinding towards so I could make groups myself. "Okay.... I guess... I'll 'try' to find a group." *gets players from around 520-530 with no Riverie armor at all *they all wonder why I'm doing waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more damage than they are against Shuro -_-

          • I havnt touched last wish or spire of stars mainly because schedule constraints and I have a little one so it's hard to plan out doing a raid that has a lot of mechanics to it and of one person screws up it's -blam!-ed for everyone that's what I hate about the new raids you lose a person now everyone's screwed that's why you don't see those raid clutch moments anymore.

          • Because the raids are full of bullshit mechanics that 1. Have nothing to do with the raid 2. Have nothing to do with ANY lore 3. Glitch out Whatever, I'm cool with one of us getting booted from the void in calus, and having to say which one of us went out, so the people inside can adjust. But if it's going to glitch 3 out of 5 times I'm not gonna carry any newbies through lol AND I SHERPA!

            • So here is something I have thought about a bit. *not saying you* I see a lot of these types of posts also the request for matchmaking for raids. I only ask this because it is exactly how and why a couple of my Clanmates and I are in our current Clan. My Clanmate was running either a strike or Crucible and happened to like running with one of the guys. He sent them a message asking if he wanted to join up as a Fireteam. A little while later they are on each other’s friend list. So after awhile playing Crucible, running NF eventually raids. We were in a non active Clan at the time that was experiencing an exodus of players who regularly played. We got invited to their Clan. I even brought a random dude I meant here on the forums. My point is that the game offers us the chance to meet people through basic game play. I’d start there before the forums for sure.

The funny thing is for the majority of the raid all you really need is 3-4 people who know what they are doing and 2-3 that can just shoot things. Some people are just bad at the game and want people who know what they are doing to carry them through. I've noticed that often times the people posting asking for "10+ clears, KWTD" are usually the ones that sit back and pass up on taking the difficult tasks or jobs. It's mind boggling how many runs I've gone through where almost no one else volunteers to do the plates, puzzle or anything requiring something other than shooting. My first time through I volunteered for every difficult task there was just so I could start getting used to them. I'll help people through whenever I can as long as they are attentive with directions and want to learn how to do the encounters and not just get carried.

              • It's because people usually don't have the time to teach new guys the mechanics, or just want the loot and go, just a quick run. I have done my fair share of Sherpas, and let me tell you, some people are not willing to learn the damn things. And I have completed many others as well. It is usually a toss runing with inexperienced people

                • Because players like you only want a hand out. Go attempt the raid with other first timers, sweat a little and learn the raid. I don't mind helping players that have tried and had no luck with other groups, but when I see players like you with 1 attempt and 1 hour in the last wish, I don't even want to bother. Why should I waste my time to help someone that doesn't put in any effort themselves.

                  • My rule in the clan is be 570+, have sleeper and whisper, watch the videos of queenswalk and morgoth, buy at least 20 raid banners, and most importantly shut up, listen, and don't go afk every 10 minutes. If uv done all those things and still can't get any takers get a new clan bc they are dicks.

                  • It is not about light level... I'm 600 light and have not done the raid and been turned down also. Some people just do not have patience to teach others. You just have to find a good team that will help you.
