A way to fix Gambit without nerfing Sleeper

Disable heavy weapons during invades. Will it make it harder for people to kill invader or the invader kill the defenders, yes. But its a way to change the gamemode without nerfing anything. Edit: One idea I've seen was during the invade you got a weapon damage boost. Not enough to make snipers a one shot to the body, but enough that you can still do enough damage to the boss. (maybe don't even include snipers, shotguns, sidearms, and fusions.)

  • Disable sleeper in Gambit. Just like locked weapons in the prestige raids. No more whining and no more crutches.

  • No. Heavy weapons are a part of this game and people need to develop the skills to contend with them. No training wheels.

    • I like this idea, or you can even make it so you have to collect heavy on the other side to use it.

I actually somewhat like Bungie’s approach to this. Lower the aim assist on Sleeper. I do realize what the charts say about the aim assist numbers, but it really is just point and shoot. If you are even close to lined up, it’ll hit in pvp. If you bring that down a bit, it’s a little bit less automatic. I just hide and make them come get me. It’s a less effective weapon at a very close range. Plus once they are on my radar, they lose the advantage of being hidden.

    • its still 4v1 so the invader need some advantage, however i do think sleeper should be disabled along with the borealis for its one shot body capability with ionic return

      • Easiest fix is to say where the invader has spawned in like “base” or “ruins”. He can still laser you if you’re stupid but it means you can hide better

      • all Bungie has to do is make it to where people cant one shot a player from across the map with a bodyshot. if you are across the map its 1 headshot or 2 bodyshots

          • Remove the ability to see players in real time for the invader. I don't care that they get an overshield just remove their tracking. There done...

          • You guys are seriously complaining that Gambit is being ruined by the Sleeper? When? During an invasion? Figure out the spawn points... And pay attention. I can do the same thing with ANY heavy, and most times, with my Tarantula I can wipe the whole team without even reloading.

            • Why don’t they just remove the ability to see the entire team when invading. That’s why people get cross mapped. An invader knows where the players will be. By the group of enemies they are trying to kill. The invader has an over-shield and mostly requires multiple people to take them down. Simply remove the ability to see the players upon entry and people will stop getting cross mapped, or at the very least will even out the exchange.

            • As much as i like this idea, to remove gambit and pvp in general would be more what i'd love to see. Sick as -blam!- of seeing how pve always has to suffer, because of a trash gamemode that Bungle wouldn't be able to make good to save their wimpy lifes.

            • -Charge motes to buy heavy ammo -Make a map that isn't a giant open air sniper arena -Have the boss be something other then a flat DPS check (wouldn't alter the invader meta, but it'd take some of the versatility out of always running Sleeper). The first one is a pretty band-aid esque fix, and it'll just shift the same thing down to sniper rifles/bows. The second has problems with the invasion having a time limit. Scurrying through tunnels or corridors would probably eat that up pretty fast. Also maps take a certain amount of effort to create, so redoing a whole game mode's worth is probably a bit of an ask. The mechanical tweak seems like the best way you could go about it. If you could deploy shields, or lock the enemy portal (or lock specific invasion spawns down), arm traps by killing specific ads or holding down certain positions. Or rather then DPSing the Primeval, you had to hold 3 (or 4 if you want to get sweaty) points to transmat in bombs or guns to kill it. The problem with that being that being that uh, to put it lightly, mechanics don't seem to be the strong point of many players in Gambit, so adding more could be a bit dicey.

What I think is they should make the invader have a nametag BUT have a lot more health, like a lot more, Dmg buff but no supers for the invader, I mean like a really big dmg buff because they will be using primaries and stuff like that. Also the dmg buff wont effect snipers and shotguns, or basically any weapon that requires special ammo. Then the invader will be like a actual boss or enemy, because right now they are only a thing to slow a team down and be really annoying, especially if they have heavy or super, this would prevent that. Open to constructive criticism.

              • Personally the best way of doing it would be to either remove all power weapon ammo from the invader or to limit them to max carry amount of 2 sleeper shots when they pass through the portal. That way it doesn't affect the defending teams ability to use power weapons on their prime evil.
