I lost count, but I believe I played the Nightfall at least dozen times this week, almost entirely on Prestige. A buddy I was grinding with got several sparrow drops while we played together (a total of eight over the weekend), while I got one... finally, on my last run.
Thank you for making me work for it!
While we were doing the strike at a modest 2.65 multiplier (for the most part), I found myself really enjoying the chase. I liked the fact that we were turning the strike into a course - predicting the enemies moves, trying to be in the right positions. Our work paid off on one of our final strikes, when our third team member left at the beginning of the strike. We were still able to two man it without feeling too much pressure and still got 90,000 points.
I played the raid later with an FLG team and made it through a few sections with them and the enemies melting. I was so used to playing on a higher handicap that the raid enemies were just a pushover.
I have 200/200 vault space used. I have thousands of legendary shards. There is little to grind for - other than to get better and better at the game.
Yes, the Sparrow isn't the be all item to chase for - but the fact that it was there gave me something to hunt for - and in that process, it made me better at the game.
If Bungie reads the threads, do me a favor... consider that Nightfall loot should be a weekly thing. As in, earn it this week - or you have to luck into it through eververse. Players like me, who play the strikes over and over to earn loot... will come back to do this strike again - in the same way - if there's something new to earn.
If this is impossible based on whatever reason, consider the loot seasonal at the very least.
