7 Years on Bungie.net

Seven years ago today, I joined Bungie.net for the first time. I didn't know exactly what to expect at the time, but I figured since Bungie likes the number seven so much, I'd go and reflect back on it seven years from then. I don't know whether or not a lot of people will see this or not, and I really don't care, but I think that on this small anniversary, I should spend some time reflecting on here: I joined Bungie.net back in 2010, when I was in middle school. Back then, Bungie was a lot different from what it is now. I was able to access my Halo 3 and Reach information. The website has changed a lot since then, and I am not able to access that stuff anymore. I still have my Halo 3 emblem, and I won't ever change it because it will be lost forever if I do. This website felt a lot like a community when I joined. I recognized a lot of people, there were frequent forum posters, and I believe that some people started to recognize me on here. It was my social media before I had social media. We could talk about almost anything on these forums, and not even related to any game. Now it seems like every forum post on Community or anywhere else is all about finding people to play Destiny with. Sure, it's great to have people to play with, but the forums were a lot different back then. I remember some of those weekly contests that DeeJ made when Destiny was in the progress of being made. I won a t-shirt and some stickers at some point. I've lost that t-shirt by now, but it was a cool memory. I don't know a lot about this site anymore. I don't think that it's a bad thing, but I'm just not using it enough, or I'm just too familiar with the old way of it to be used to this site. I don't post or comment much anymore, I don't really feel the need to. I don't really even see the same people that I have on the old site anymore. I still lurk on the site a bit, but as I grew up I just stopped making things for the site. It's changed, and so have I. I think that I'm going to still be using this site. I still play Destiny, and eventually I'll get Destiny 2 and start playing that, but this site will hold a lot of memories, and I don't think I'll ever forget that. <3 West Sout (originally the username MightyMarcher01)

 • Congratulations West Sout! There are still some Grizzled Ancients around here. I'd recommend checking out the Penny Arcade Expo as a way of keeping in touch with the community. All the best.
