“Science is inherently agnostic. It just posits theories. True scientists never really know, only believe.”

All the hate from the religious guy. Figures.
-
Atheism and science aren't really comparable though are they? They literally have nothing to do with each other
-
If you want to claim that religion is any different, then you're completely ignorant.
-
I only worship Chemical Warfare!
I'm kidding -blam!- that
-
At least science doesn't contradict itself
-
Han is a guy from Star Wars, not a robot This is what religion does to the mind

I sense edge in all directions...

In science, a theory is the consensus of all available data from many different, independent fields that all arrive at the same conclusion, thus proving the hypothesis to be true. So your statement is just wrong.
-
Edited by Stickman Al: 10/22/2017 2:54:52 PMThe statement "God is definitely real" is wrong, and so is "God is definitely not real". So that means that according to the quote, as someone who doesn't believe in God, I am more more reasonable than religious people? Seems fair to me.
-
So what, its just a quote. From a rob bot. It could be flawed. Bad sources are bad.
-
I'm an atheist but I frequently use the phrase "thank the powers that be" A very agnostic phrase.
-
That would work against the religious goonies as well...
-
There is no checkmate with atheist. I dont argue with them anymore. No need to. Only because they feel like specail snowflakes cause they dont beleive in something, doesnt mean its true AT ALL.so,talk all ya want atheist l,it doesnt change the truth one bit
-
Science is not a religion.
-
Atleast i dont need religion to keep my life going.
-
True scientists work things out
-
Wise words, there can be no absolute truth in this world...
-
Not sure what you hoped to accomplish here. I don't know if you thought you could effectively undermine all of science simply by posting a quote, or if you were just trying to start a flame war. Either way, this post is pretty sad.

Yeah. What's your point? That's why I, as an atheist, don't fully debunk the idea of a creator, but I currently don't think it's true. It's called being an agnostic atheist. Plus, if you're trying to debunk science or something, science is always subject to change. Science helps us understand the world how we see it. There's always a possibility of being wrong.

It's... a robot...

What the ever loving wut? Seriously, you can not prove or disprove god. All you can have is a personal testimony. With science, you can prove a theory based on available data & yes, a theory is a bit of a belief. I believe the world is round. Krishna believes it is flat. Unlike religion though, science can evolve their theories, "Eggs are bad for you, mmkay? They give you bad cholesterol. Wait, after further study, they give you good cholesterol. Wait, after even more study, the yellow part is bad fer you & the white part is good, mmmkay?" Where as any change to the given religion is seen as heresy, blasphemous & just down right wrong. "Gawd came to me in a clearing. He told me to find these gold tablets & an angel would help me translate them! I am restoring the true church of Jesus Christ!" "Those people are not Christians!" That is but one example. There are more. The main point is, the 2 are entirely different catagories, as in comparing apples to oranges. There are places they can overlap, but you can't truly use them as a comparison, except in the case of they both start with a belief in something that causes you to dig deeper & find answers, one from tests & the other from old ass books, prayer & "holy" people.
Agnostic atheism is a philosophical position that encompasses both atheism and agnosticism. Agnostic atheists are atheistic because they do not hold a belief in the existence of any deity and agnostic because they claim that the existence of a deity is either unknowable in principle or currently unknown in fact.
Pretty sure most atheists fall into this. I know God isn't real just like I know that there isn't an alien race of clowns on Venus or something. I also know that a deity can't be disproved.
