I will openly admit that I'm not the best at Crucible. Other than occasional breaks from PvE, I usually only play it for events. So it should say something that someone as casual as me can see a massive issue with the Competitive mode. The few times I've tried Competitive, the teams were almost all randoms put together using a mix of guns & classes. And yet when I go into "Casual", more often than not the enemy team is a sweaty PvP clan all using MIDA Multi-Tool and perfectly coordinating their matches. The try-hards shouldn't be more common than the all-random matches! And I can see three easily-identified problems with this:
1) Competitive lacks the more popular game modes. Supremacy and Control could easily be played in Competitive.
2) There's no incentive to play Competitive. No leaderboards, no unique loot from Casual, nothing to actually make teams want to play it.
3) Nothing is stopping them. If the loot they can get is the exact same, and a team that can communicate will almost always win over one that can't, why shouldn't they just spend all day steamrolling teams of randos?
All these issues could be easily fixed (make modes available in both playlists, make exclusive gear or competitive rewards, lock pre-mades into competitive), and frankly should have been there from the moment they implemented a "Competitive" mode.
