Loot system not promoting continued play?

I've been finding the loot system doesn't make me want to play as much as it did in destiny 1. At the current moment i can't do the raid or the nightfall while i wait for the rest of my clan to get up to power so when the weekly milestones show up I'm ripping them off in an evening going up a couple power and then for the rest of the week there isn't anything that feels like I'm making any progress to getting stronger, just farming materials, even exotic drops tend to be at the same or slightly lower power than what I am currently using. Other than that though I have been in love with the game and am very exited for the last few members of my team to make it to raid levels so we can hit that for the first time. Has anyone else been feeling this lack of progress? The factions are coming soon so hopefully that gives us more of a feel of progression.

  • It is due to a system in place Bungievision calls M.V.P. It stands for Minimum Viable product in the gaming industry. I am not joking, this is a real term. A gaming company, like Bungie, will decide what a minimum viable product that can be sold to players in the quickest fashion possible. To deliver content, minimal as it is, to produce the biggest payout splash possible. After said product is released then have a steady drip of minimal content to distract the gamer with. I.E Faction rally. Faction Rally will only run for a week, once a month, to put the hamsters (players) on the wheel, to grind for the same gear with different shaders. No new perks, no new guns, just reused game assets reskinned. I somethimes think Activision and Bungie are literally doing some form of social experimentation / social engineering to see what can pass as content. How can they miss the mark so much with what kept people playing D1 for so long? Someone or a team of people literally had to tell Activision / Bungie, "Listen, the numbers are in, gamers do not like awesome weapon rolls and the grind to do it, they would like generics. They do not like hard mode missions, Heroic strikes, great exotic weapon quests and most of all they do not like Shooting big bosses in raids". Instead we got " Hey guys, build a game where all the loot is the same so there is no more haves and have nots in PvP. Get rid of the grinding and give everybody the same weapons so we can pretend we are the next Overwatch". What we have now is gaming socialism. Guess what Bungie, in your attempt to appeal to the mass casual gamer, you shat upon your core audience, which by the way accepted the fact you guys chopped up the first game and sold it back to us as DLC and even cut out the Europian Dead zone in D1 to use it as your core in D2. Whom do you think is going to shell out money for your expansion? The casual guy who will move on when Shadow of War comes out? Or Battlefront 2? or Days Gone? Or Last of us 2? Those casuals you catered to will be gone. Most people do not have 120 to 160 dollars a months to buy new games. Most have a budget and will get 1 game every few months. What we got with Destiny 2 was gaming socialism and for a raid we got Olympic synchronized swimming for video gamers. We got a game that has the greatest shooting mechanics in gaming history that asks you to RUN through a nightfall and not hardly shoot anything to achieve success. That barely asks you to shoot things in your raid. It appears you do not want gamers to shoot anything when you make the best damn shooters in the world....and make mechanics to skip it... lol. I do not criticize this game because I hate it, I do it because I want to love it. Cutting out your rolls on loot was a huge mistake for apparently an idea that you can can compete with Overwatch or CS on a world competitive platform, got news for you, it isn't going to happen.
