So, I thought I had it down as to why the blue engrams (and purples from token-reps) drop at a certain level. Mine currently drop at around 278, and my big-number power is about 288 that I can best figure out to make. All of the articles I've been able to tolerate reading are just blah-blah-play-the-game, do milestones, etc, but I'm looking for the actual mechanic involved and not just trying to stumble my way thru getting higher levels. I'd like to be able to raise my level /without/ exotics, by playing into whatever does actually make the blue drop increase. My original theory was that it was based on the power of your lowest gear piece's power /minus/ the purple mod, so that in order to move it up, you needed to infuse everything you had up to *at least* that drop level. For example, if the power of your *lowest* item were say, a shotgun at 274, which was actually a 269 with a +5 mod, that engrams would be dropping at 270, so that you would be grinding in order to hopefully get a 270 shotgun to infuse so your shotty would then be 270 +5, so that engrams would start dropping at 271. However, I tried testing this theory by removing all of my purple mods so that the power level shown were the actual, not-inflated level, and the blue drop level stayed the same. Does anyone know why *specifically* why blues and token-rep rewards drop at the power they do? Mine drop at 278 right now. My currently theory that I need to test is that after 260, the level of token-rep rewards increase 1 per every bright engram turned in. I'm going to try to not infuse anything and just vault everything I want to keep, and just try to focus only on bright engrams and see whether the token-rep rate changes..
