Failsafe's terrible alter ago.
Failsafe goes too far. Her negative voice lines that are used with the "negative voice" are so unfunny that it hurts. She would be so much better if every line she said was in her positive sounding voice. Bungie is trying too hard with comedic relief failing most of the time. Bungie please remove all of failsafe's negative voice lines before I have a migraine.

What I don't like about Failsafe is apparently she wasn't programmed very many lines of dialogue. I've heard the "you're gonna have to taaaaaaake theeeeeem" line at least 3 different times on 3 different objections. It's kinda cringy the first time you hear it, by the third time I had to put down my controller and walk away for a few seconds.

1 ReplyPersonally I like the dual nature of failsafe because of the reverse nature from what you would expect. This is referenced in ghosts line that goes something like, "which one is the evil one?" The cheerful sounding voice often says pretty dark lines and the unpleasant voice insults people from time to time. I many of failsafes good lines come from the cheerful voice but I like the unpleasant voice for 2 reasons. 1. The it gives a surface to failsafe's negative emotions. Basically the negative lines of the cheerful seem deeper because you expect them from unpleasant. This leads me to believe that the unpleasant voice is more of a false face that the cheerful voice hides behind. [spoiler]In other words... failsafe is a tsundere.[/spoiler] 2. It gives the dark lines more comedic impact from the cheerful voice. Basically the same logic as above but instead of the dramatic lines hitting harder the jokes hit harder. Basically it is funnier to have the cheerful ask ghost and cayde to delete themselves rather than have the unpleasant voice do it because the unpleasant voice exists. In summary... I don't know, I like her the way she is.

Failsafe is the least issue this game has... First fix the weapon system, the shader system and the infuse system...

1 ReplyI do not understand people hating on Failsafe. What about Sloane or Asher. Those two are so boring to listen to that I wish I could turn them off. I love listening to Failsafe go back and forth with Ghost and "the Cayde unit."

1 ReplyI've heard it quite a few times, but after a while I turned off game music and turn game volume way down. I wish there were advanced setting so I could adjust the different streams of audio. All I really want to hear is my environment. Footfalls. Supers. And my music. (During the story it's fine. But once I've played through 3x...I want to hear what I want to hear. The game. Enemies. Less distractions. ;) )

His dumb little quips and one liners during "serious" moments are so annoying. The vanguard is planning what they assume will be a suicide mission and hes holding a chicken talking about hugs. I'm in the middle of ramming a tank through hundreds of cabal and hes making fun of zavala asking him to come back to earth. I'd list all the others I can think of but I don't want to spend the rest of my night writing. Just let us mute cayde like we can with other players. The missions would improve greatly.

4 RepliesI think they tried copying the Cortana from Halo 4. After so long the AI starts the degrade. However, the Cortana in Halo 4 was excellent. Failsafe is garbage. The voice acting is terrible for the alter ego of FAILSAFE, as with most voices in this game. Why doesn't our guardian ever say anything? Anyway. Failsafe is a mix of Cortana with the "humor" of Handsome Jack. Hell they even stole the Hyperion ship for the "almighty" haha.
