Leviathan Raid is frustrating, here's why.

Hey all. My first post in a long time. So basically, I played the raid today. OH BOY, WHERE DO I BEGIN? So firstly, the revive system is complete crap. Really bungie? revive tokens in a raid? Ever stop to think of how soul crushing it is to get so far in an encounter, then wipe because no one can revive a guy? OH, AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON WIPES BECAUSE OF THAT. The 30 second timer that causes a wipe if a teammate is not revived? I legit wanted to smash my xbox after the 27th try at baths, getting to the last rotation, and having someone die in mid. I AM FURIOUS WITH YOU, BUNGIE. I could understand choosing one or the other, between these two mechanics, but BOTH? How is this even remotely fair and balanced? I could do it with a team that is good, but when most of my friends are casual players and my clan is filled with mostly my friends (Reminder, mostly casual players), I have to get a bunch of randoms, and my social anxiety goes on overdrive when I do that. Seriously, my team was decent, but we just couldn't get past garden in the end. I love the visuals of the raid, and the music is good, but the death related mechanics are completely and utterly TRASH. Go back to destiny 1 raid death systems, and it might be less infuriating to do. I just can't enjoy the raid like this, and as my titan is at 295 as of raid launch, I felt like I would be able to handle it. I really did. I was hopeful for this raid, bungie. I was really hopeful. I should have known better. If anyone ever wants to try to run the raid, and will be willing to put up with my anxiety around new people, please feel free to message me. I just need better teammates than my friends, no offense to them. I just want to get things done and I can't do that with the people I play with normally. Again, I don't hate the raid itself. I really enjoyed the visuals, and the mechanics. The only real complaint I have as a long term player is that the death mechanics are too punishing for a normal mode raid. EDIT: All of this is referring to NORMAL MODE MECHANICS. Please relate my post to D1 Normal raids, not hard raids. EDIT 2: Thank you all for your replies. I really want to specifically mention that the raid didn't feel [i]hard[/i] for me, but it felt too punishing for the players who did end up dying. each run, one player at least would die, and I died significantly less than the others on my team. I was frustrated at the time of the original post, causing my phrasing to not be very clear about what I meant. Yes, this raid is a challenge, but I could beat it with a team that actually could coordinate better than my original team. I need to be able to trust my teammates to play well, but both teams I ran with had people I couldn't really trust, as I had played with them before and they were really bad.

  • Hardcore veteran player here with my team I started playing with Crota and we all hate it. I have never wanted to stop playing destiny until I played this raid absolute joke the revive system is in normal I could understand it in hard mode but normal wtf. Too many mechanics not enough fun. Absolute joke. Gave up on the dogs after spending 3 hours 30 mins on it of the same bs. The dogs don't turn for ages ans everything

    • I'm a hardcore player and I hate this raid. It's not fun. Nothing about it is fun. Easily the worst raid to date. 10/10 world design though. I'm impressed at how huge and epic the leviathan feels. But the encounters completely ruin the entire thing.

        • Simply this is a hard mode raid with a revive option. I dunno if there will be a hard mode, but I think it will have a insignificant completion statistic.

        • I have 777 raid completions in D1. This raid is fun, mechanics are fine, it's easy. My only issues are no check points, spending more time in that awful maze waiting for everyone to make it through to get their key chests which is only legendary engrams and if you're lucky an exotic engram. Need more ammo drops, more in the reserve for scouts and heavy ammo synths back. Majors in the throne room shouldn't be bullet sponges and i'm 305. It doesn't make it challenging it's more annoying because you're only trying to kill them for ammo to drop and you don't have much time from when you do DPS to when you're teleported. Also many bugs through out the raid like dogs detecting players before they even hop around in pleasure gardens, gauntlet ads teleport out of both rooms on the plates etc.

          • The raid is end game and for the best players. If you're not one of the best, you don't get it. Just like you don't get to play in the NBA if you're not one of the best players in the world; just like you don't get to be a millionaire for sitting on your ass. No handouts, child.

            • Only well seasoned raid teams do ok in these types of raids where everybody else is left with a giant mess to deal with everytime they go to do the raid.

              • This raid is amazing. I don't understand the problem? It's not like other raids, where if a couple know what to do, you can get by. Almost EVERYBODY must know the mechanics and perform them correctly. Once you know what to do, every encounter is easy. But if a guardian on your team is lacking in mechanical skills, it just won't work out. The raid is end-game. Made for people to put their skills to the test. If you're skills aren't on par with raid requirements..then just get better.

                Honestly I was with a team well above the level and a team I have completed every hard mode with no problem. This raid is a bitch and especially for a normal mode and there is no way around that. That is not a conversation piece or something I am going to argue. Destinies terrible scaling against normal mobs rears its head. Where you just get hit the same no matter your gear level above the requirement. An you can simply die on a whim or some b.s. bugged out enemy which Destiny is famous for. At this point what is the hard raid going to be one shot one kill. It "concerned" them that under half the community finished a raid in D1. Well I guess it didn't bother you that much because I promise you even less are going to complete it now. The weekly raid was something we used to enjoy and could complete in a timely matter. Never did we run into a challenge where we felt like it was full of so much b.s. and low reward that we almost don't want to bother going through it once. The death penalty that was even applied to this b.s. was supposed to be applied to hard mode not normal. However of course they listen to the sweaty try hard forever alone stuck at home with all the time in the world people. Who always complain something isn't hard enough until they literally have no hope of achieving it what so ever.

                  I feel with the size of the raid and the uselessness of other sections of it they could of easily added one extra boss/loot section per wing. Completing any part of the raid feels very under rewarding and, will not be wasting time next week to do it. Weekly milestones are far better to grind out max power level and finding extoics. Hope bungie's next raid isn't just a rewash of other raid mechanics and they take into account that they have new players. The revive mechanic is too harsh for them and your raid has to wipe when they constantly keep dying. This would be fine next DLC where people actually have a decent understanding of how raids work or for prestige mode. But for a normal mode raid for your new game is going to gate a lot of players from even wanting to attempt it let alone finish. The Gorgon maze War dogs is by far the worst raid encounter so far. Some of the dogs get bugged out and either don't leave the room with spores or constantly at a full break neck speed run their patrol routes. They would also randomly find prism carriers on the rocks and cause people to have to wipe or waste a safe room charge. Whatever you guys are probably not gonna take any of this in anyways.

                • Listening to the comments here, I agree that being an end-game story, there is an expectation that it is supposed to be tough. The goal is to take all the skills you honed leading up to it and execute with them. That being said, the revive token system, the whole party wipe mechanics, the the fact that you may simply not receive loot, and the incredibly heavy lift it is to get the mechanics down right makes this unreasonably difficult and unrewarding. Anyone saying "git gud" in this thread is entitled to their opinion, but spending 4+ hours refining down and "getting good" and then opening a chest to receive NOTHING is unreasonable, and indicates to me that Bungie shipped a broken product.

                      • The amount of elitism in this thread is staggering. For a game that markets itself to the casual gamer it sure had an interesting way of introducing raids to the causal player. And for that casual common player bungie can go -blam!- itself. I'm sorry I have to work 8-10 hours a day and then neglected my social life (which isn't that much) and then I get to hear a bunch of sarcastic "GIT GUD FGGT" replies. Great, the casually marketed game is having a bunch of hard core -blam!- telling me I need to get good. Literally counting down the days til Anthem is released. But at least the original mass effect guys understand what a difficulty curve is. Ban me if you want, I realize bungie and it's player base gets crippled (mentally) over the miledest criticisms. I gave them my money though, so they win I guess.

                          yeah , so far I had not much fun with the raid , did not complete anything besides the first part, last time I played it someone started yelling tried to blame the fault of the team on me like 5 minutes into the first raid stage , so I just left the game and haven't played it since

                        • You must be pretty terrible at this game if you find the raid hard, this rant is laughable. First time round, yeah it's a little challenging getting used to the mechanics but me and my friends smashed our second run through in just over two hours and we are a pretty casual & small clan who mostly play for a laugh between close friends. Seriously, git gud m8. Really is childish when people complain when a video game doesn't go their way.

                          • I couldn't agree more. My team beat the raid last night finally and could honestly say none of enjoyed it and probably won't do it again. There is so much work for very very little reward. I was one of the luck ones who bagged a gun and a chest piece... Most only got tokens lol what happened to killing a boss and getting random rewards dropped?? That's the point in a raid, beat hard challenges and get rewarded to feel rewarded lol. And don't even get me started on the hidden chests. They are like a raid in themselves just for tokens and possibly an engram. The raid itself is riddled with timers and hidden timers and and one person fails - whole team is a wipe. Really not enjoyable.

Its hard, no checkpoints, the mechanics are unforgiving, it pushes people away with both hands, its just not worth the pathetic reward drops. Almost did the whole raid and only 1 person got something that wasnt tokens or engrams. Its not worth the massive hastle and time commitment.

                              • Revive mechanic makes it so you're punished for dying. Also, dogs does have some buggy frustrating wipes, but if you can't get past it, your team is not "good" lmao

                              • I don't understand why Bungie went out of their way to make everything worse than the first game. It's like they want the game to fail. Sales in the UK are already down 58% from last week, and D2 had worse sales than D1. I don't understand all the great reviews either. The game is boring. The grind is worse than D1 for people who don't raid or run nightfalls. Our powers and guns are weak as -blam!-. Exotics are lame and worthless. Strikes are boring, and not rewarding. Nightfalls are -blam!-ing speed runs now. Cool downs are ridiculously long. PvP is horrible. Vendors don't sell anything. The list goes on and on.
