Destiny 2 has been my favourite game this year, and certainly shined where D1 failed. However, the game has its flaws, and that taken into consideration I have compiled this review on the game so far. I highlighted the topic of each section so you can read what you want. There are no spoilers here :)
The good:
Destiny 2's storytelling cannot be compared in any way to that of D1. The cinematics were well written and beautifully produced, aside from 1 or two I won't mention to prevent spoilers. The missions were fun, sometimes challenging but not impossible, and the nature of the story itself made you feel like you were racing the clock.
The maps are beautiful, spacious, and enjoyable to explore for hours on end. Public events now feel rewarding and the adventure missions scattered around the map reward the player for exploration in a way that still contributes the the story and can lead to some nice loot.
Guns in Destiny 2 feel balanced and exotics feel, well, exotic, and cannot be compared to other guns. Bungie made it easy to acquire end game quality loot from exploring with the area specific tokens. Guns also have some unique yet simplistic designs.
The bad and ugly:
Bungie screwed up with The Crucible, badly. Games can take hours to load up, and although ranked matchmaking is nice, you can no longer choose a specific game mode to play and instead you are at the mercy of RNG (Ie, control 4 times in a row) 4 v 4 is not as bad as you think, but having all the "fun" weapons in the power slot can make things feel slow.
Shaders , as you may know, are now consumables. In some ways, I like this, you can mix and match shaders for cool combos. But they are one time use now, which actually limits customisation.
Infusion became Bungie's "if it ain't broke don't fix it" moment for D2. 1-1 infusion is said to be gone, and you can only infuse items of the same type (autos - autos, etc) and you can't infuse gear from different classes. I can see how this may work from a lore perspective, but let's face it, lore was the not on Bungie's mind when they came up this system.
Either Destiny 2 has only 3 strikes, or the map rotation is screwed up... again. I'm sure this will be fixed soon so I won't write an essay about it, but it can be a problem for strike grinders like myself.
That's all I can honestly say so far. If you have any other opinions, feel free to butt in.
Tldr: destiny has great storytelling, maps, and loot, but lacks in other minor, but sometimes game breaking areas.

I came here mostly wondering about the crucible, and what people were thinking. Not sure if its the 4v4, or what the deal is, but I'm starting to think I hate it. Love D2, but wont play it if its impossible for a filthy casual like myself to have fun in the crucible. At least in D1 there was rumble.
