As I went to see the difference between a Default paint job and a Shader applied to my gun last night, the Shader vanished. Having seen the outcry on /r/dtg and here, I now know they are all single use.
Bungie, this is wrong. Everything about this game has been absolutely perfect. The beautiful music, the stellar story, the excellent balance and pacing, the world building and voice acting, and the sheer volume of exploration and excellent integrated features is all phenomenal and then it all comes to a grinding halt as you gate the very customization that is the core of your player focus behind a damn paywall.
This is unacceptable and quite disappointing to this long-time fan. If changes to this system are not underway after today's vehement outburst of completely validated indignation, I sincerely hope that it is being deeply discussed and will be addressed.
This game is great but without the throttling of player customization, it could be damn near perfect. Please Bungie, please resolve this.

I must be the minority, because I have no problems with how shaders are earned. I have a ton without buying anything from Eververse. Ive even bought (with bright dust) shaders from my free bright engrams you get when you would have leveled up after 20, with breaking down unwanted legendary stuff. Its really not that hard.. its really not worth all this complaining.

I dont waste my time using them...once im fully upgraded i might try them out.....but im sure as fck not paying for them😂😂😂

Boo. Not cool. Disqualified!

I still don't see why people are still complaining about this, I have 64 of just a single shader, I am actually hoping that this better system stays

They should just be unlimited use. thats all. Everything else in new Shader system is ok.

Shaders in D1 were originally character based, so you could only use them on 1 character at a time (unless you had duplicates), but were at least vault-transferable. Ships were the same way, for that matter. Some people were filling their vault with Shaders/Ships, at the cost of space for spare guns, armor, mats, etc. So, Bungie moved them to account-based kiosks. Brilliant move on their part: a great quality of life improvement. Then.... this. How they thought this was a good idea is just.... well.... inconceivable. Having shader slots on each piece of gear is cool: more customization is always a good things from a player's perspective. Putting shaders in cash boxes? Well..... as long as they can be earned in-game too I guess it's not a problem. Making them consumable, where previously they were permanent? Terrible, and clearly intended to push the cash shop. Bungie might fix this, but I have doubts. Something tells me it was an edict from Activision that made this happen, and player opinion has never mattered to Activision.

They drop from just about everything. They also come in random chests, and from Bright Engrams.
