Text Chat Functionality for Consoles [Destiny 2]

Text Chat is something I've always wanted in a game like Destiny. It's a feature that's in almost every popular PC game right now, but you rarely see it in console games. I think it is great because it is a form of non-verbal communication that allows people to communicate with others in Raids, PvP, Social Spaces, etc. Some people would prefer not to talk using voice chat. and they might just be really shy perhaps. There may be some who have speech problems as well (probably very few but still). Text Chat, I feel, brings the community together in a way that voice chat does not. Although voice chat is highly recommended in a game like Destiny 2 (especially in Raids), Text Chat can be a secondary form of communication. I wouldn't expect people to drop there headsets and only use Text Chat, but in a game like Destiny 2, where it really encourages you to socialize with others, text chat could help players who don't use voice chat for whatever reason. Text chat also allows you to express yourself in different ways. Maybe you get an awesome kill on someone and that person says "wow" and you say "lol". Or even saying "GG" at the end of a Crucible match. It's things like that which make text chatting with others fun, even when they are on the enemy team. I understand most people who play on consoles only game with a controller and headset, but having the option to plug in a keyboard or chatpad would enable people to use non-verbal communication. I know the last thing we all want is console players plugging in their mouse+keyboard, but I don't think this will be encouraged, even if people start plugging in their keyboards or whatever. Most people will probably just plug in their keyboard or chatpad, and use text chat as secondary means of communicating with others. There are some games on console where text chat is enabled. Games like Neverwinter have it, and although it is an MMO, almost everyone speaks in text chat at some point. Gears of War 4 also has text chat functionality, however, it may not be used quite as much, I haven't heard any complaints in regards to it. I think this feature would work great in Destiny 2 as it shouldn't subtract from the number of people using headsets, talking in voice, and making friends, it will bring the community together on console Destiny 2 in a way that, so far, only PC players have. Anyways, thanks for reading this post. Let me know if you think it's a good or bad idea and why.
