Please read first and secondary spoilers before commenting an being disrespectful or insulting.
possibility alot of typos so get over it while reading especially if you don't know context

just realized made a spelling mistake for the third option. It's suppose to say weapon system of your choice where you decide what slot your weapon is put in.
Now why am i making this post. Well while working a graveyard shift I had an excellent thought that most won't agree with but I hope many will entertain the thought. Now as we know destiny 1 weapon system auto rifle, scout rifle, pulse rifle, and handcannons in the primary slot then you got shotguns, fusion rifles, sniper rifles, and sidearms in secondary slot (or special slot) then we have rocket launchers, heavy machine gun,and sword in heavy slot (or power slot). Ok everyone got that. Now in destiny 2 we have auto rifles, scout rifles, pulse rifles, handcannons, submachine guns, and possibility of sidearms being in both primary an secondary slots then you have shotguns, fusion rifles, sniper rifles, rocket launchers, grenade launchers, and the possibility of swords and maybe heavy machine guns being in the heavy slot. Ok does everyone got that it's not a bad idea but destiny 2 weapon system as usual is focused around PvP which is a big mistake. Now the third idea that I hope many will think about. The idea is that it basically allows us the players to chose what weapon we want where for our primary, secondary, and heavy slot. Now the rest of the idea to keep it balanced is that depending on where you put your weapon the ammo is what really determines how much damage the weapon does. It goes like this if you have a any weapon in the primary slot you have a basic (or default) weapon damage and ammo pack that the weapon comes with. If you have a weapon in the secondary slot the weapon gets a 20% damage boost to the default damage it allows the gun to do more damage but still have a good ammo reduction but hopefully won't effect the balancing. Now if you put a weapon in the heavy slot it would do 40% more damage allowing but have less ammo which hopefully won't effect the balance of the game and allow PvE to be more enjoyable so snipers and ect will play more of a roll in PvE combat. In the third idea of all the guns were given a default damage output the idea will work but if the weapons aren't given a default damage output well the game will be ruin because the way destiny 2 is shaping up to be a game focus on PvP like call of duty, battlefield, and overwatch aka shit story or campaign an everyone plays PvP only.
it would be really great that if no one agrees with the third option then please I implore you to come up with a better idea for a weapon system for me my idea sounds pretty good.
Edit 1-: wow basically no one have my idea a chance that hurts. Everyone wants the destiny 1 weapon system well if you could have gotten this post trending maybe someone would have saw. I was temp banned for a while for calling a bungie boot licker what he really was sorry I would have edited sooner but ninjas and moderators don't know how to leave me alone. When someone insults me nothing is done when I tell off a boot licker I get banned funny how that works right.

  • Lol the last choice makes no sense and is broken af. I'll just put a rocket as primary shotgun second sniper last. get out of here the weapon slots are not gonna change and delete this post.

  • I was originally excited for Submachine Guns because I assumed we still had the same D1 weapon system, as they were suppose to be in the Special Slot but now they are just replacements for high rate-of-fire Auto Rifles. Also I would always prefer to have 2 Power Weapons over 2 Primaries!

    • I think the first thing to do to decide on a a weapon system is to define a few things. primary [prahy-mer-ee, -muh-ree] adjective first or highest in rank or importance; chief; principal So let's apply this, if I'm mainly using a powerful (hint hint) weapon like a shotgun, then my "primary weapon" isn't primarily being used, which makes all weapons in the primary slot not a primary weapon. To fix this, let a adjust it so that primary weapons are primarily being used. How do we do this? Reduce reliance on other weapons. Take away/reduce their ammo? Nah, people will just use ammo synths. The best way to do this is make two primary slots (so we can quickly choose between to weapons without changing loadouts, and move all weapons too powerful to use consistently to a slot (lets call these power weapons). This literally uses word definitions for you guys. Let's see if bungie can design this system! Oh wait...

I feel that we should have the option to toggle between either a Destiny 1 weapon system or a Destiny 2 weapon system... But have the Destiny 2 weapon system locked in for specific game modes like competitive PVP (Trials, Countdown, Etc...). It could follow the same mechanics as sporting games like FIFA for example where you are free to use the old the "Legacy Defending System" if you want to but if you wish to play competitively online you will have to use the "Tactical Defending System". This would give players more freedom in how they want to play where PVE is concerned but also help maintain PVP balance in competitive modes. They could just call it a legacy loadout.

        • No weapon is special to me, I'd be just fine with a halo-esque two weapon pick up system instead of loadouts.

          • Here's the thing. It's not that your idea is horrible, or undesirable. It's simply never going to happen. For a number of reasons. One it would take a lot of work to impliment. A lot of coding to even have the multiple systems, then recode the weapons to even work right within it. I understand where you are coming from, I share some of your concerns with the new weapon system, however I also understand why it's the way it is. Bungie was clearly unhappy with the weapon system in destiny. If they could have changed it then, I'm sure they would have.(same reason it won't be changed in D2) I'm not saying I think there solution is the best solution, though I do hope it will solve the whole nerfing entire arch types of weapons because they want to nerf a single gun. They say they can now tune singularly, the way they have made the weapons this time. In the end though, we have seen the weapon system for destiny 2, and that's not going to change. We can only hope the have the game balanced to work with it, and be fun.

          • If you chose the slot how would you account for rockets? so like borderlands where weapon types have there own type of ammo? If it set up so rockets could use primary bricks how would that affect it's damage output? you wouldn't think a blanket damage decrease would work because nade launchers are officially a thing right? Idk if it can work in destiny as a franchise. It could be better if weapons blended across slots like shotties in the energy slot that were weaker than power ones more like CQC scouts in function. So Keep the d2 system and work on adding weapons like the example I gave with a lower gauge shotty for primary/energy slots.
