Is there any point to the Feedback section of the Forums?

Last week, DeeJ was on Gamertag TV, and at one point he was ask where he gets feedback on the game. His answer was streamers like Datto and Byf, and leaders of huge clans. That is it. Did DeeJ misspeak, or is there really no point to posting feedback here?

Nope. They like hyper moderated vacuums where they only hear praise. Say anything remotely negative about the game and watch it get mass downvoted or removed. Hell the original cries for a voiced protag was from reddit and since luke smith confirmed it wasnt happening it's fallen off completely over there. Now honestly #feedback and #destiny are the same board now. I understand why they're different boards but they've basically merged into one. When D2 comes out we'll need actual moderation to move threads around and honestly we need a bigger moderation staff over here to combat some of the less inspired shitposting. But I enjoy the rawness of the bnet forms. I have since it was the H3/Reach forums and we were all bitching about the Battle Rifle Spread and Armor Lock (times were simpler then). End of the day million dollar video game companies backed by bigger million dollar video game conglomerates dont need defending. They'll be fine if they get negative feedback and negative feedback is what matters anyways. If you only make threads like "thank you bungie I love the combat and feel of this game" and ignore issues then you'll never get them fixed. I'd still be running around in circles picking up spinmetal trying to upgrade one piece of gear if it weren't for the immense amount of feedback that material farming was somehow more tedious than woodcutting in runescape. And yeah some of that comes in the form of "-blam!- you bungo fix the game" but not everyone is able to sit down and carve out multi paragraph forum posts. Tbh on an individual level no single post/thread here matters, cozmo only reports on general trends so I guess in a way shitposting here is actually quite effective.

      • Reddit is a better barometer of community feedback. The community is modded correctly and only the most sensible constructive threads that actually help improve the game rise to the top and become more visible Whilst I agree with some posts and comments here and there are some excellent feedback from knowledgeable individuals but the bungie forums are largely filled with people who want to either talk shit about this game(even tho they aren't playing or have never played), cry their favourite crutch weapon has been nerfed, and complain about pretty much everything. The problem with the bungie forums is whilst they do listen to our feedback it's hard for them to gauge where the community's actual desires lie. Why? Because we as a community communicate in aggregate, as a collective, and with all the shitposting that goes on here it creates a lot of white noise, and it's harder for them to hear the the actual problems we have with the game and our sensible suggestions for improvement. So many people want things to change to suit themselves so they can play the game the way they want without considering that there are millions of people playing that all want something different, bungie has a hard job trying to satisfy the needs of everyone and they have to land their 'product' somewhere in the middle to keep the majority of their player base happy. Streamers do offer feedback direct to deej but deej doesn't make this game he passes on that feedback to the producers and they work out if that's something they want to include. They don't listen to streamers all the time. Datto wanted even harder raids, ms5000watts wanted an exotic that could only be obtained by going flawless in trials and bungie didn't put that in the game because they only appealed to the hardcore streamers that play the game for a living, essentially locking out much of the game from the casual gamer that probably makes up 80% of the player base. Streamers(partnered)only represent 0.001% of the community and the vocal members who frequent the reddit forums and here on bungie represent about 1%.

        • This matter arises annually started in the year before D1 release. The answer is always the same bnet is primarily a place for Guardians to chat. The secondary purpose, by a very large margin, is to provide meaningful feedback. You can check the old threads - they are an interesting read.

        • Datto REALLY, he actually said Datto. Lmfao he's one of the reasons destiny 1 was ruined and no doubt him and his other streamer friends and YouTubers will do the same to D2. I actually liked deej aswell, what a shame.

          • And did the leaders of large clans ask to be forced to become small clans? What will Deej do now for feedback that large clans won't exist? Or is that just karmic retribution because if D2 is the result of thier feedback they kinda deserve the nerfing the clan system got.

If our feedback matches the results of their internal datamining, and of Activisions market research, then it matters. If not...not really. Datto and Byf directly influence millions of people by showing them which opinons of this content are popular and which opinions are not. The forum can't hope to compete with that. Bungie rises or falls based on what's most popular, period. Activision doesn't blow 500 million dollars on marketing because they care what customers think, they spend it to make customers think what they want us to think.

Apparently not according to you, you stated in another thread that Deej said they only take feedback from streamers. I'll post the link, but from what I understand you have to subscribe to it. IDK but it would explain where all the unnecessary nurfing came from in this game. • No Bungie doesn't listen to any feedback on its own app, why would they? That would only make sense and Bungie has a company policy in place to make sure all their employees go "FULL". See now when you hear Luke or Deej talk it makes sense when you view it in the context of idiots who went "FULL".

              • Deej has mentioned before that Bungie listens to Streamers and he has named Triplewreck a number of times. To be fair Bungie have also said that they look at Reddit and if Deej is present he also hastily adds B. Net. I do not accept that this forum is a complete cesspool of vitriol produced by Neanderthals. There are excellent constructive threads, such as the one recently asking for visual support in Countdown for the deaf, which seem to garner little attention from Bungie. As far as I am concerned this forum is for people to discuss amongst themselves.

              • There isn't. The only thing you can hope for is for Cozmo to say "I'll pass it on to the live team." So yea, don't even bother lol.

                • This long after the beta, whatever decisions that needed to be made have been made. what ever changes or lack there of have already been accounted for. So until the game releases, there is no point. I just come here for the entertainment. People still seem to think they can convince Bungie to change the loadout setups. Not gonna happen. The best anybody can hope for is that they add 6 vs 6 to the game at some point. But even that won't happen for at least 2 or 3 months after launch and even that is a BIG IF. IF there is a big enough outcry and IF sales are disappointing. Otherwise nothing will be added that has not already been decided.

                • I have seen them answer many posts on forums, can you honestly expect them to answer all post ?or even try and read everything ? when this place get busy we can have hundreds of posts a min ! Now I don't watch streamers, but they probably look at streamers for feedback because it raw and uncut, plus with the amount of people watching them, and agreeing with what they say they probably feel that's a good way to get Feel of what people think. I am not suggesting that when a steamer says that a weapon need nurfing they instantly go and nurf it, they probably look at the data, other streamers and the forum and see if this is the general consensus, before they take action.

                  • That's the problem, Bungie shouldn't be relying on streamers for feedback, they need to be listening to the whole community, not just those who give them free advertising. It's NO WONDER, Destiny has been revolving around pvp. I don't want to see Destiny 2 end up like the first, before it's even released!!

I know this is probably going to receive a lot of hate, but I'm going to be brutally honest: other than assessing a general "mood," most feedback on here is useless. The forums are filled with more whining, uninformed, and rash posts than well thought out arguments and constructive feedback. Because of this, most of the constructive feedback is drowned out in the chaos. That's why, but I hope it changes.

                      • They don't pay much attention here because it's mostly non-constructive noise. If people could learn to be more articulate with the angst rather than the typical "Bungie sucks, this game is garbage" types of threads, Bungie might pay more attention.

                        • They do read/watch these forums, as a means to determine the mindset and reactions to things; and they can get free ideas to implement that might help them in marketing and/or ideas that they think they can use in their game. In other words, they only use this forum for their own benefit, as they are aware that people are helping them and they don't have to pay them for that help.

                        • He's saying the community has made it's intentions on the feedback section clear: People don't like what is going on. He also said that because of the context. A t.v. series, Gamertag TV, is about streamers and content creators. You speak to that audience and say what specifically works towards them. If they think feedback section is not nearly as good to be? Or don't want to be involved with it? Then that would be why they are watching said streaming. For the record, you never dilute your potential for feedback. From any source. That's b.net, reddit, streamers, ect.. All of them are sources for feedback just by speaking their mind. So speak your mind here and it'll be taken as feedback.
