Ghost is Too Whiny
Bungie's writing amd acting directors are terrible! In the Homecoming mission, after we take down the shields of the Cabal ship, his voice is so irritating. The delivery of "AMANDA?!" sounds like Ghost is 12. So whiny...
He's equally annoying in The Inverted Spire, with the crappy back and forth with the other AI. Seriously, Dinklage was better with "That wizard came from the Moooon!"
Seriously, spend a little money on a component acting director. You had a crazy amount of money available when Destiny started, and I feel like you blew it all on gimmicks like McCartney writing a crappy song, Bill Nighy voicing a nobody character (yes, 'The Speaker' is a nobody character), wasting the talent of Peter Dinklage...
Also, why are we guardians mute now?? I honestly got the feeling that Ghost is the real hero here, and 'The Guardian' is just his puppet. A tool he uses to shoot stuff. We have even less humanity than SweepBot!
It looked like there were openings in the cinematics for us to deliver a line or two, but I'm hopeful we get more dialog in Dedtiny 2 than we had in Destiny. Too bad they didn't fix Ghost's dialog.

Nolan may be considered a good voice actor in the gaming community, but his performance as the Ghost is mediocre. Personally I felt that Dinklebots voice was better suited for the nature of the ghost. The problem here is the terrible writing that they are given to read. It's like they took a science-fic writing high school student and told him here, write some shit for this floaty glowy thingy to say.

Agree. Just from the one Story and Strike we played, I can tell the Ghost is going to be more annoying than helpful.

3 RepliesThought it was fine. Though having an option to switch Ghost personality and voice would've been cool. Imagine a Arnold Schwarzenegger voiced Ghost "Why are you running from that drill? You're a Titan!!! Make that drill run from you!!"

I completely agree. Ghost has been way too whiny. I personally dont like his voice either through nolan north plus their added voice alterations effects. He really does sound like a useless 10 year old. Its a total mood killer when im trying to do something epic in destiny and his voice ruins it. Like in the inverted spire when youre ready to head into the drillsite and then ghost starts screaming "no no no noooo". Like ok should i go back to orbit? Will you stop whining then? Or that firsr part over the vex waterfall. That was an epic launch this ghost yells in your face to stop at the milky waterfall. And then pouts like a 4 year old. Scripting and direcring is the issue here bungie, not your voice actors. Peter dinklage's voice was great for the role- powerful, empowering. The only issue was he was giving no proper directing for emotions. And now we have nolanbot with all this whining and no real help. At least make him useless. Do you see the irony in your lines of ghost telling failsafe shes useless? Ghost is too...

Him crying "Zavala" and "Amanda" are perfectly natural responses for most people. The city is under attack and your comrades are suddenly cut off, you've definitely gotta be worried for them. I do agree with the inverted spire, he's an asshole to failsafe.

12 RepliesI wouldn't say whiny, but he seems far more annoying than he did in Destiny 1. It was very noticeable during the Inverted Spire strike where he was going back and forth with Failsafe. Seems like a kid wrote the script, so it isn't the voice actors fault imo. I hope this sort of writing doesn't carry over into the full game as I'm not 8 years old and find it very irritating.

I miss Dinklebot. I didn't get the stink over him sounding like an A.I. robot. And most of his lines were just fine. Now we have fxckin C-3PO.
