Destiny 2, Gun Rolls aren't random! Why it's a good thing!

I know what your thinking, no more grinding for God rolls. OH NO my perfect rolled matador is gone! Some of you may think this is the end of the world, but look at this situation like this. It adds balance. Destiny 1 had balancing issues. God roll shotguns killing you from absurd distances, luck in the chamber sniper abuse, etc. We all know those stories. Now rather than seeing one Shotgun causing every shotgun in the game to get nerfed, this has the potential to allow Bungie to focus on specific weapons. It will add variety. Once you have the weapon, you HAVE the weapon. You won't have to spend hours, days, weeks or for some even months looking for a god roll weapon. That weapon is that weapon. It's not like the God roll Matador being the equivalent of a God roll Party Crasher. They will be DIFFERENT. There will be VARIETY. Different weapons will have different play styles. One gun won't carry you through everything anymore. Weapon Modifiers! Don't forget these exist and I'm certain we have control over them. Now before you complain let me answer some obvious statements or questions... Q-But this gets rid of so many hours of gamplay to to get this gun, I'll barely have to play! A-If you haven't realized there will be plenty of actual content to play rather than repeating everything for 1 gun and calling it "content". I'm certain you won't miss out, especially since this game will come with a larger arsenal than D1. Q-What do you mean it will add variety? Everyone will be using the same weapons!!! Q-If you are that blind everyone basically uses the same weapons as it is! Matador, Wormwood, Party Crasher, Palindrome, we mostly all know the names of these guns wether we used them, loved them or absolutely despised them. Then perks like Rangefinder or Final Round. Those are just a few examples of our version of "variety" in Destiny 1. Q-How will this balance the game? A- Look at it this way. One gun is that gun and it will always be that gun. It will stay the same, be more situation based and less perk roll based. One gun won't carry you through the crucible anymore. You won't spend days or even weeks grinding for a gun with a certain perk. Everyone will have the same guns, but that doesn't mean everyone will use the same gun. Like I said, due to set perks guns will be more situational.

Thank God this vision of destiny showed itself to be a huge error and was scrapped. It shouldn't have never been allowed to see the light of day in the first place.

    • its not good I've been stuck with the same pistol for four days, every engram gives me weaker pistols or energy weapons, it needs the randomization.

    • No rolls has been a huge factor in making the game a complete failure.

    • The new system they are using takes the destiny out of destiny see a large portion of the fan based lived for that grind in the destiny world that's what made people keep coming back with out a random roll system its not hard to get literally every gun in the game within a month or way less and then never play this game again because what's the point when there is no way to get something better there's nothing for hardcore grinders to grind for and yes it did balance pvp and by balancing pvp it's turned every match in to a try hard sweat fest I think they should reimplement the random roll in pve and have a set perk in pvp they need to distinguish a difference between the two because there is going to be a huge drop in fan base when people see how limiting this really is and as for there's a lot of content giant quotation marks there just isn't there's essentially trials the raid the night fall which can all be completed rather quickly and you could probably complete this entire game in a week to 2 weeks time including all of the end game content and there is no reason to replay there's nothing to strive for that's just my piece on the issue

      • I hate the new system. I used to only use explosive round scout rifles and hand cannons now I have only seen 2 scouts with exp rounds. Now I don't enjoy it. It's like hand in my tokens oh another perfect copy of a gun I already have. So what's the point This new system has ruined d2 for me and I think I'm gonna wait till they sort it out. D1 was an absolute mess on launch then they fixed it 3 years later. I just hope they do it quicker. Rerolling should never be added it also ruined the game as I just kept re rolling instead of grinding to get the roll i want. So basicly till they fix the weapon peeks system. Or at least have more choice. They ruined the game over the small amount of pvp players abusing the system now moat weapons are under powered in pve. Must be a record 3 days and I'm board. Also this token thing is a total confusing mess like the vengard and crusible tokens from d1 that they got rid of for a more simple legendary marks which was soooo much better. Its like bungie went backwards copying what d1 was like at launch. Waste of £89 I'm waiting for the next hot fix / update .

      • Thank you someone who undertands how set weapon rolls are better than random perks. RANDOMNESS IS NEVER GOOD. Especially in competitive multiplayer (crucible).

        • Not having random rolls eliminates a lot of game play time. You should be able to earn the ability to reroll any weapon, like before. I have an idea, why don't we all just share 1 account and work on it, that's balance right? We are closing in in on that approach. Thanks Snowflakes

          • This is a change that will NOT be popular. Part of the fun in D1 was chasing the good perks. The game will get boring extremely quickly without that element. Yet another bad move, Bunghole.

Personally, I don't like the change at all. Take the Eyasluna for example. Grade A crucible gun, right? Slap on a few range perks, Litc if you like that, a reload perk like outlaw, or even explosive rounds, and you're golden. Great PvP gun. However, it is also one of the best PvE hand cannons in the game. Slap on the outlaw again, but now have some ammo perks like triple tap and/or mulligan (it helps more than you think, way more than on a sniper). Or you can try to get way better stability perks because range isn't going to be 'that much' of an issue in the raid because DPS is with the sniper anyway. My personal favorite for PvE is a Eyasluna with Braced Frame, Triple tap, and Mulligan OR outlaw. That ensures ample rounds all the time, fastest firing capability, and a great reload. -- Point is this. With the current system, I can dedicate which roll I want to go for. A PvE build or a PvP build. Keep in mind that there are even several nice PvE builds depending on what you fancy. So... with D2. Now there's only one build.... instead of three or four that I could've liked. And then, on top of that, I have to see which side, PvE or PvP, the gun is 'built' for. I don't even get to build my own gun... Bungie builds it for me and if I don't like it then I don't get a choice. That's much less variety for a gun that can be all around good depending on the perks you get. Now, it's a stagnant gun that 'might' be good for one realm of D2 or the other. -- Now, talking about variety between the guns themselves and not rolls on one specific gun. It's simple. The base stats on the gun matter WAY MORE than the perks a gun gets. I don't care what perks you got on 'The next big thing' shotgun or what perks you got on ANY fast firing hand cannon, they suck and will always suck. Bungie needs to balance their weapons better, not relegate their perks to 'set pieces' that most likely are built to suck in the first place because they might be 'too good'. If you only build one or two or three 'good shotguns' guess what, of course those will be the only ones used.

              • Remember when everyone went crazy for ghally? It'll be like that since all guns are set rolls, it's a good thing. If every eyesluna was a godroll and u had one drop you would lose your shit as soon as the icon showed up

                • They made the weapons that are unbalanced. full auto, riffle, rangefinder on a full power shotgun. They did that. they make the weapon and the perks that are possible on them. All unbalance is because of them. they should have taken every weapon with a god roll and balanced them against the other weapons in their optimal range. Getting rid of the best hunt in the game isn't the answer at all. It is a incredibly boring way the fix something they already control.

                • Agree. All of the complaining is ironic, people want the game to be easy if they spend ridiculous amounts of time grinding for god rolls, so they can dominate in pvp. Where as it makes the game absolutely wretched for "casuals" who can't put in the massive amount of hours to grind for the perfect gun. Also, the fact that hc's and shotguns are used as long range weapons is utterly ridiculous. They should be high risk, high reward, not the end all be all for every situation. Seeing the complaints that the ttk will be too high is also farcical. Just more wankers who want everything easy, instead of having to actually engage in combat. Which is why they run hc's and shotguns constantly. Why have to fight someone when you can use your op short range gun as a sniper. Ridiculous-ness. I hope all of the people complaiing are part of the don't pre order movement, so the game won't be polluted with their toxicity for a while anyways. Go back to COD, you losers.

                  • I'm conflicted on the lack of random perks for guns. You always know what you're getting and can go grind for a gun instead of random perks, but part of the grind is gone. I think armor should definitely have random perks and stats though. If I like the look of a certain armor, but it can't have the perks I want, then I'm going to be disappointed, especially when it comes to Raid armor.

                    • Yeah, this is a little more in line with a proper MMO. You can grind for a WEAPON now or a piece of armor, and not a certain combo of perk rolls. Just think, no more 'I have 657 Undying Mind completions, and still no Imago Loop with rifled' posts.... see, people just don't know what they want, they just wanna bitch. It'll blow over.

                        • The lack of variety is going to suck. If they wanted a PvP competitive mode they could have made it where you only had the choice of certain weapons while playing is said competitive mode. Normal crucible should give you the option to use whatever you want to use. The new system is going to make the game boring and lame.

                            • The hunt for ever-better rolls on our favorite guns is the biggest motivation for replaying this game every day. Without the ever-present possibility of rewards improving our arsenal, you'll see much steeper drops in player base 2 weeks after each content update. Another example of Bungie shooting themselves (and us) in the foot: taking most of the loot experience out of a looter-shooter. Smh.

                            • I still don't like it though. Getting your guns to roll with those great set of perks was one of the reasons why the grind was worth it. It gave this "wow" factor whenever you got a good roll on a weapon. I like diversity even if it's just one weapon, because that "one" weapon already equals like 5 weapons given the rolls it can land with.
