Fastest way to level light up from 170 to 300?

My friend just started playing couple days ago and I resumed playing it then I played year 1 and year 2 and he's just doing story for all of the expansions but is their a faster way for his light level?

  • Grind sepkis normal you get high level blues then when he is 320 carry him through sepkis perfected and it will bring him to 385. I went from 335 to 385 during rise of iron by grinding sepkis perfected

Start the RoI questline and that should drop 340+ Gear. After you done all the RoI questline, you should be 380+ Getting to 400 is just farming hoard chests and using 3oC. I went from 0-400 yesterday in 4 Hours 25. Check my Titan.

Your friend is going to be pretty under-leveled for a lot of stuff that would earn him legendary marks, but if you two play together and do the daily/weekly stuff, you can basically carry him through so he can get marks and buy 380 gear from the Tower vendors to cut out some of the grind. Have him start with the cheapest items first, to raise his light level as much as possible so any items he gets as drops will potentially be more useful. Chest, gauntlets, boots, and class items are 75 each, helmets are 120, weapons are 150. If he has vault space (if he's new, he probably does), have him hold on to legendary and exotic engrams since blues will get him pretty far these days, then once he does have everything at 380 or higher, he can start decrypting them to get higher. Make sure if he gets an item that's higher light than what he's using, that he equips it before decrypting another engram. Edit: Forgot ghosts - faction ghosts are 100 marks, but Vanguard and Crucible ones are only 75.
