REMOVE ICE BREAKER FROM CRUCIBLE
UPDATE: The Ice Breaker was successfully used as a shotgun all weekend in Trials last week. I suppose since it covers both snipers and shotguns, I now understand why the poll results are the way they are.

There is truly nothing I enjoy doing more in Destiny than sniping. I'd give anything for a team snipers playlist.
HOWEVER

If the current ammo economy is here for good, then you need to get rid of the one weapon that is TOTALLY avoiding said ammo economy setup, therefore becoming the only rational option to use if one wants to give themselves the best chance to win.
There's nothing wring with this gun prior to the special ammo economy nerf. Now, it's a an obvious bypass to these new rules, and therefore totally defeats the purpose of the entire ammo change to begin with...
I understand D2 is the focus, so don't even bother with altering the ice breakers ammo generation time. Just remove it from the crucible. Period. That or allow every other sniper generate ammo at a similar rate that it does.
I love sniping, but letting the easiest sniper to use in the game bypass the ammo changes makes me an idiot for carrying anything other than the IB and at a steep disadvantage when or if I try to use any special weapon not named ice breaker.
It's being used by almost entire teams on maps like thieves den and exodus blue...in 6v6's, with all solo players matched. It's one thing for a gun to be used to the point of annoyance. It's a whole other thing for a gun to be the only rational option for an entire weapon class.
Just get rid of it. If need be, get rid of NLB. You already broke that one pretty well though.
This is an honest suggestion. Not a rant. I carry the gun every game almost. I'm one of the 95% using it. You have to be thumbless to not be good with it.
Please. Either find a better ammo economy solution or trash the gun and call it a day.

As soon as we got it again I'm year 3, people said it was useless. It hasn't gotten buffed or nerfed since. Icebreaker needs to be nerfed/removed now?

You don't need to use it to win, and if you think you do then Icebreaker isn't your biggest problem. Just let it go, it isnt exactly gamebreaking and for those who enjoy sniping it's really their last hope. It has low AA, high zoom, and weird handling. Most would prefer a decent legendary sniper all day before the patch. I'm not a fan of the patch either, in fact I hate it, so I see your point about other snipers not being viable. I have been forced to run IB/NLB since the patch like most people. But if you took these away from me I straight up wouldnt play anymore, and a lot of others would say the same. Do sidearms, Invective, No Land Beyond, or Universal Remote not exist in your version of Destiny? But yeah, go ahead and remove Ice Breaker from the Crucible. I'm sure everyone won't flock to the next best weapon that bypasses the special ammo economy changes.

Personally, I dont play PvP as much as I used to, and even then I played rather sparingly. But ammo regen wasn't a problem when you didn't lose special on death. People are so used to having special that they will use anything to have it. Icebreaker isn't the problem. We are just so used to having ammo available that we will use Icebreaker to have ammo fot snipes. Bungie didn't address Icebreaker when they nerfed special but I'm sure they knew it could potentially be an issue when they moved it forward. I don't think they will make any drastic changes since Destiny 2 is so close. We'll just have to live with it for now.

Honestly you're probably better off playing Overwatch for online multiplayer because Bungie is never gonna fix Crucible lol

What do you expect? Bungie nerfed all special ammo because they wanted "balance" and actually, as usual unbalanced it even more. Now it's use shotguns or fusions or your sniper of choice until you die, then breakout Tresspasser or IB.

For those defending this its just people who prefer sniping as a special weapon. Plain and simple. Sniping has gotten to that point since people cry about shotguns lol. Sniping is all there now to the point where sidearms can help them now no land and side arm. Or ib hand cannon.

I love how you either want to limit players weapon choice or get rid of the exoticness of the ice breaker. It's basically firefly but shoot anywhere for its other perk. Maybe just leave it as is because there is significantly less people using IB now

This has been the case since the first meta rerack in Yr 1. It will always be the case as well as the exploits and your ability to use them are what makes anyone capable at pvp. Think Blink + shitgun. Or slide shitgun. Its all we saw for a whole year. Before that, TLW and Hawkmoon. Or any other HC from across the map. Now its Ice breaker, high impact pulses and scouts again. Oh, and Palindrome. Its always going to be something. Just play the meta until the streamers cry enough that bungie adjusts the entire game to cater to their demands. You dont want Cammy, Krafty or Triple upset making mean Youtube videos about the game do you?
