Anybody else think that Bungie messed up when they nerfed all the hand cannons by 5m? Why was it not just for the Luna, Peril, Loop archetype? The Last Word was in a very good position before the last nerf. I tried it last night and it's unusable anymore, even at close range because shotguns are one hits and sidearms have more range. Same goes for guns life the Revelator and Thorn. Who else thinks Bungie should change this?

TLW should be the lowest in range compared to other HC while in its effective range it should dominate other HC. that's as far as I go

Edited by Prof Sheitbag: 5/8/2017 5:37:22 PMUnusable?! Are you for real?! I have been going ham with that gun for 2 weeks now! It is still an exceptional gun even up to mid range. I believe it still holds the best TTK in the game (but I could be wrong with that statement...). I am not certain how you are using it, but bloom is still a factor with handcannons. However I have experienced no ghost bullets whatsoever with the gun since I picked it back up. Yeah, a shotgun at super close range will still kill me. My response: don't let them get close (radar exists for a reason). And yeah, a sidearm can do some damage. My advice: make use of that vertical space, and make that sidearm spammer waste his clip trying to chase you down.

The biggest problem with bungie's method of balancing is blanket nerfing.

Edited by kellygreen45: 5/9/2017 12:23:48 PMThe hand cannon is a weapon that shouldn't exist...and will always be a problem. That weapon has always been competing with scout rifles, and the people who like to use them WANT to use them as scout rifle replacements. So there is always this tug of war. The more Bungie tunes them to be more of a short-to-mid range weapon (which any handgun should be)....the hand cannon users complain. The more capable Bungie makes them trying to please the hand cannon users.....scout rifle users start to complain because they start getting out-gunned by hand cannons at long range. The Last Word was a hand cannon that was designed for a game where ARs and shotguns were MUCH more powerful (Year One), and give hand cannon users a weapon that could compete. The problem is that the Sandbox team destroyed that game....and TLW has been a tuning problem ever since. The weapon ---hand cannons---really just need to be taken out of the game, because it can't really ever be balanced in a way that the whole community will approve of.

I completed the Chaperone quest the week before last; I had put it off for a long time. I went back to hip firing at anything within short to medium range. I would guess about 15 meters. ADS wasn't working any more. Had to pace shots unbelievable slow at full on medium range or just bug out. Also, no tapping the trigger anymore with hip fire. Full commitment. Now, eight shots in the cylinder? Yeah I did bring sidearm for back up. Ran out of bullets with no time to reload often. It wasn't too bad. But the method of ADS and trigger tapping didn't work out for me at all.

Edited by Swiftlock: 5/9/2017 9:21:32 PMI'm convinced that The Last Word won't ever be balanced in a way that pleases everyone. It will either be mediocre or busted. Wouldn't surprise me if the weapon didn't show up in D2.

TLW needs an urgent nerf. Too much range. Range should be reduced by 50% Mag size reduced from 8 to 3 This would balance it perfectly

The 2.6.0. Hot fix Three metre nerf was harsh to all hand cannons. How can 3 meters make that much difference? Makes me think there was a ninja nerf to accuracy as well.🤔

Okay, number 1: What do you expect Bungie to do? Buff the range? The player base who complained about tlw being "OP" made Bungie nerf the gun. Besides, that just isn't Bungie's style. Number 2: it's based off of a damn single action revolver, which normally would have you fire from the hip. Do you expect a HIP FIRED gun to have the range of one that is supposed to be ADS, and all you need to do is pull a trigger?
-
Well sidearms can have equal range to a HandCannon and they can get range finder, so idk why you're complaining about that. And obviously a TLW will lose to a shotgun point blank because it's a SHOTGUN. I do agree though that it isn't as good as before

I'm glad, that weapon has been king for way too long.
