Protectors of Light Ch. 5: Beginner's Luck

"What are you doing?" Logan asked as he watched his girlfriend hop around and shadow box. "Really, you can't tell?" Angel asked after letting her arms drop. "You and me, anything goes!" "Angel, it has been centuries since I've seen you last. I don't think a petty boxing ma-- Ow! Son of a!!" Logan fell to the ground after being punched in the face. "Oh, Logan! I'm so sorry, are you okay?!" Angel exclaimed after cupping her mouth. She crouched down beside the warlock and examined his nose. Logan wiped away the blood, then got to his feet. "Anything goes, huh?" He asked as he walked away from her. "I think I might reconsider that detail..." the woman said nervously. An evil grin grew on Logan's face. The warlock picked up his bo-staff and tossed it from hand to hand. Logan turned back, then held the staff in a fighting staff. Angel swallowed, then held up her hands again. Logan swung the staff, but the woman backed up and screamed. The warlock swung again, going high. Angel dropped to the ground, then looked up to see the end of the staff in her face. "One to zero," Logan said. Angel blew her thick hair out of her face. She got up, then walked in a circle across from Logan. She rushed forward and threw a petty punch, but Logan dodged it. She threw a couple of jabs, but the warlock backed up to avoid them. Angel went to throw another cross punch, but the man knocked her arm away with the staff. "Two, zero..." Angel said sadly as she looked at the staff, in her face again. "Come on, Angel. I saw you take on a knight earlier!" Logan said tauntingly. He waved his staff around, then prepared for the next attack. "You're right..." Angel said as she remembered tackling the knight. The nonexistent bell rang in both of their heads, the match was on. Angel charged the warlock, startling him instantly. She grabbed his stomach, then pushed him to the ground! Angel sat up on her knees, then pulled back her fist. "Oh s***!" Logan threw up his arms to protect his face. "Two, one..." Angel said as she pushed herself onto her feet. Logan opened on eye, saw that he was not about to get punched, then stood up. "That still means I'm winning," Logan said. Angel was sitting on a small, wooden chair and holding a pack of ice to the warlock's right eye. She checked to see if the swelling went down. Not a bit. With his good left eye, Logan looked around. He was laying on the couch. "What happened?..." he asked. "I evened the score," Angel replied with an enthusiastic smile. "Two, two..." Logan said before wincing in pain. Logan's ghost made several scans up and down the man's body. "Nothing seems to be damaged, just a black eye..." Merlin said. "Not entirely," Angel said. "His dignity isn't in too great of shape..." she snickered. Logan rolled his eyes and sighed. "So this is what 'girlfriends' do?" Merlin exclaimed, trying to understand social interactions. "Defeat you with cheap tactics, then mock you about it?!" The two females, Angel and Alice, stared at the ghost with disgust. "Pretty much..." Logan said, knowing what he was risking. "Hey!" Angel said while slapping his leg. "That's not-- entirely-- true!" Logan shrugged his shoulders and grinned. "What do you two do around here?" Alice asked as the ghost looked around the room. "Um... Exercise and train, movies or video games, Dungeons and Dragons with Merlin--" "It gets very boring..." The ghost said somberly. That was his favorite game. "Oh! I got a basketball goal in the back," Logan added. "Sometimes, when Silajir grows tired of my presence, he'll lock himself in his room and complain to himself..." Merlin stated. "Oh, really? What does he say?" Alice asked. She would complain about having Merlin as a ghost, as well. "Nothing much. Just a lot of... moaning, really..." The wizard ghost continued. Angel's jaw dropped and she slowly cocked her head to the man. Deep down, she was laughing inside. "Oh, what do you expect?" Logan asked, trying to justify himself. "From a guy, nothing less..." The titaness replied. Logan dropped his head in embarrassment. "So, how are you feeling?" Angel asked. "Better, I suppose," Logan replied. "You throw a mean punch, you know that?" "Apparently!" The titaness exclaimed cheerfully.
