Why I won't be buying Destiny 2

Over the 3 years I've played this game, I've grown attached to my guns. The things I did to get them and the things I accomplished with them are what make them special to me. When they announced that all of our stuff was getting left behind, it was a huge insult to me as a player. I've done so much, spent so much time here, and invested so much of my mental well-being into this game to build my collection of stuff. The notion that, when Destiny 2 rolls around, all of that will count for absolutely nothing is a joke. All of this, because people asked for a "fresh start" in Destiny 2. Apparently a completely rebuilt weapons system is 100% necessary for the game to not be a steaming pile of crap (despite all of the work that's gone into balancing the game the past 3 years). It is also apparently the case that in a new system, bringing the old guns back is 100% completely goddamn impossible. I know for a fact that bringing back the old guns would've been very possible, but people are against it purely because of this bullcrap "fresh start" bandwagon. Yeah, I'm in favor of them rebuilding the systems if it's something they'll find easier to use, but I'm pretty sure they can do that without throwing out all of my stuff! I know not everyone reading this will agree with me, but this is what I truly believe. I had fun in Destiny, but I wouldn't have even started if I knew that this is what was going to happen when the sequel came out. It's a whole lot of commitment, and to get NOTHING in return is a huge slap in the face. They say Destiny 1 players will be given something special in D2 for their accomplishments, but so far they have remained completely and utterly tight-lipped on what this could be. Quite possibly the ONLY silver lining in this entire ordeal, and they've told us squat on what it is. What's even worse is the fact that they tried to cushion the blow, to make us forget about the crap they're trying to pull, by allowing us to import our character's head, race, and gender. ARE YOU -blam!-ING KIDDING ME!? All the things we did over the course of our Destiny career, and the ONE thing, the ONLY thing we get to take with us is the crappy head we spent, like, 5 minutes tops on. We couldn't even turn our heads around when choosing their hairstyle for god's sake! The back of my hunter's head looks like Mr Bean cut his goddamn hair! Since we started our Destiny Career, one of the number 1 things we asked for was the chance to change our guardian's appearance. For three years, THREE YEARS, we never got it. Now, when they're about to take everything else away from us, they're going ahead and saying "Oh, it's okay. We know your characters are important to you, so you can keep your gimpy hairstyle and ill-advised space-tattoo!" So yeah, that impressive collection of weapons, armor, vehicles, shaders, emotes, and emblems doesn't mean jack anymore. So you spend several frustrating hours on one part of a raid, only to finally master it and get your fantastic Emblem? Doesn't matter. You threw yourself at the Taken Tanik's challenge every time it showed up on the Daily Heroic and finally managed to get your Black Spindle? Don't care. You got the Necrochasm after all this time? Far too late for anybody to give a crap. Even the stuff they literally just brought back isn't worth anything. The revamped raids, armor, and ornaments, despite looking cool as hell simply don't matter. The only thing anything in D1 is good for anymore is to give us temporary solace while we wait for the inevitable gutting of our past. Yeah, sure, we can go back to D1 to look at them every once in a while like glorified Gold Stars on the classroom wall, but eventually D1's servers are going down, and everything will become nothing more than a memory. We will be left with nothing of our time in D1. What about next time!? Who's to say this won't happen at the end of Destiny 2? Destiny takes so much commitment, and it rewards us with loot! Who's to say that it at the end of all of this, it won't just keep taking away everything it's rewarded us with? So yeah. I'll stick around for the rest of Age of Triumph. I'll complete my collection of Exotic weapons, I'll clear as much of the record book as I can, and I'll buy myself that T-shirt so I at least have something from my time in Destiny 1. After that, nothing. Bungie is getting no more money from me. I'm not refusing to buy Destiny 2 purely because I'm not able to bring forward all my stuff from D1. I'm refusing to buy it because I can't be certain about what's going to happen with the stuff I earn in D2, and all the Destiny games afterwards. I'm going to be completely honest, this is what it all comes down to: I don't trust Bungie anymore.
