I've never played Zelda in my life...

So up until recently, about a week ago, I saw the trailer for Breath of the Wild, and at first I thought it looked interesting. However, I have never played a Zelda game in my life. I know many people praise this series as one of the best, but I just never got around to playing it l, mostly because I wasn't interested. Now, after seeing the reviews come in, with 9s and 10s everywhere, and after actually watching the trailer multiple times, I want to give the series a try, but I'm worried that I won't understand the story, and I surely won't get to experience the nostalgic factor I've seen many people talk about. I have a WiiU and a 3ds, should I give this series a try, and if so, should I play the older ones first or just hop in into BotW?

  • Every game is separate. New story, New areas every time. There's a connection (a very complicated timeline) but it's not important to know to enjoy any individual Zelda game. That being said, BotW is very different than the games before it. Its much bigger, has different mechanics, and isn't reall6 separated in segments by dungeons like before. So if you end up liking it, There's not. Really a garuntee you will enjoy the formula of the older games (though you probably would, the Zelda formula is great).
