ANYONE ELSE SICK OF YOUTUBERS BASICALLY MAKING BUNGIES DECISIONS?

Do any of you get the feeling everytime a youtuber puts 'op' or 'best weapon' or they complain that a weapon is shocking bungie decides to change things, they aren't the voice of the community, it's just their opinion!

  • Honestly I don't think the issue is streamers themselves: its the fact that people blindly follow their reccomendations without making up their mind. Yes, they give good advice. But too many people running the same thing is (I think) what really leads bungie to over-nerf

IMO based on Bungie's previous stream their devs clearly don't spend enough time WITHIN their own game (e.g. trying to equip two exotic weapons at once and that blasphemous display of TLW usage). In regards to pvp, players will naturally use a weapon that has an advantage over other weapons, however slight. They want to win, I can't blame them. The problem here is the cycle of nerfs that have brought us to this current state. For simplicity's sake lets group weapons into group A and B. You nerf group A, people will start to use group B. Then you nerf group B because its usage spiked, and people revert back to group A which although was nerfed previously, performs slightly better than group B now. And on and on and on until all we are left with are weapons that are watered down versions of their original state. It's like a reverse power creep. They don't feel powerful or exciting or unique anymore. Now this is just a very general example, obviously it can be more complex than that. Bungie seems to make decisions based on the effect, rather than the cause. For example, the nerf to hungering blade because they felt it would be too hard to counter (the effect) due to the special ammo economy changes and blanket nerfs to shotguns (the cause). If they didn't mess with the special ammo economy, they wouldn't have needed to nerf hungering blade, leading to "unintentional" mess-up to health regen perks on other weapons / classes. Even the previous overusage of certain special weapons (the effect) was largely due to weak primary weapons (the cause). Now there are other things that Bungie should consider like map designs that heavily favor a particular weapon type but that is for another day. Well that's my opinion anyways. TL;DR : Bungie should look into their decisions with more thought before implementing them. Look more into the cause, rather than the effect.

    • No. Youtubers and streamers decide the meta. BNG makes their decisions based on the meta, and (usually whiny) feedback about the meta. So you are correct, in an indirect way. But BNG doesn't take their decisions from the streamers and tubers. With 2 exceptions. They nerfed gally as a direct result of DattoDoesDestiny and his hatred for fun, and they nerfed revives as a direct result of Mtashed and his trials runs. Hell, they even admitted as much in that TWAB and in the following BNG Bounty against him immediately afterwards. #TitanMasterRace

      • Is it them or Trials players? Because these nerf-whiners are not speaking for my Destiny experience.

      • If you play Trials and stream you are put on Bungie priority nerf request list, any complaint you have when it comes to weapon/ability balance will be taken at full face value and corrected as soon as possible. It'll be even faster if you defend their shady practices over the last three years and help defend them when the royally fudge things up.

      • That's almost on par with a dev admitting he had hungering blade nerfed because the ability was annoying to him. I blame the neckbeard population. So many neckbeard twits, neckbearded douche cookies everywhere.

        • People: "Bungie doesn't even play their own game! We need good players to test out decisions!" Bungie: *listens to community* "Well, what do you, the good players, have to say about this?" People: "NO NO NO, YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" Look, I disagree with Bungie's decisions most of the time, but I really do believe that other people should test their game. After watching their February stream, it was pretty sad.
*Bungie dev pops golden gun, walks around corner* *gets shotgunned* "See? Shotguns are still working as intended." *Dev looks for The Clever Dragon in special slot* *Dev tries to equip 2 exotics at once*
It's clear they don't play their own game, seeing that they don't get the basic rules like not being able to equip 2 exotics at once. Obviously implementing every little change streamers want to make is not a great idea, but these are the people that play the game the most. It's literally their job to play it. Most of them are somewhat decent in PvP, and it's not a bad idea to toss ideas around every once in awhile.

            • Yes. Datto and Byf both cried about Astrocyte Verse before TTK! This is before they knew about shadestep and TG. Basically forcing Bungies hand at keeping it out of the game for a year and eventfully releasing a worthless exotic instead of something that could have been good.

              • its clear that the community has very little say in what bungie does in patches. did anyone ask for a quickdraw nerf? hungering blade nerf? overall regen perk nerf? special ammo nerf? not really. most people wanted primaries buffed. what happened? specials got nerfed.

                • To Bungie, the people on YouTube/Twitch ARE the community. People on the forums or Reddit complaining about this or that are just mongrels nagging to the higher-ups about stupid shit. BUT, if a mongrel can get 10,000 subs and their complaints start getting noticed, THEN they're officially a part of the community. The only thing I can assume is that if these people take the time to create vids or whatever then they're REALLY the ones who are playing Destiny so Bungie should "listen" to them instead of the other 100's of thousands of people that play this game regularly.

                • Not necessarily. Bungie primarily bases their nerfs on stats so if they see something at the top, it will likely to get a nerf soon, like Nightstalker, unfortunately. But whenever a Youtuber or Streamers complains or whines about something, people begin to rally behind them because they have a voice in the community. Whenever they say *blank* is OP people will begin using it or calling it OP.

Or "Here's a lot of the top 5 primaries you HAVE to use!!". This community can't play about with different guns to find one that they like, just follow the herd

                          • Some of those youtubers have 1M+ subscribers and given the ongoing decline of the player base those 1M subscribers represent an increasing percentage of that base. I'm not sure you can fault Bung for listening to them but you can definitely blame Bung for the latest patch fiasco.
