Serious question to those who defend Skorris...

Why, specifically, is this most recent adjustment a bad thing? Hear me out While I don't agree with the vast majority of nerfs that bungie has implemented (or the awful way which they implement them, which could be a post all it's own...), I do think that the nerf to skorris was UNDENIABLY justified, and I have seen some arguments in the forums that are inexcusably lazy and uninformed in regards to the overall design of this game. 1) Stop associating the skorris nerf with people who complain about weapon balance. Many people who advocated its nerf were players like myself, who want strong primary weapons along with the return of fluid, fast-handling special weapons. The nerf-monkeys are not the reason for the nerf, rational thought is. The skorris artifact was FUNDAMENTALLY broken even from a simple gameplay standpoint: IT IS NOT AN INDICATION OF GOOD GAME DESIGN WHEN PLAYERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO NOT PLAY THE GAME. (Caps are simply to emphasize, by the way. Do not take it as a harsh or condescending tone.) 2) Stop acting like this is some major blow for PvE players in order to justify your frustration at not being able to abuse camping in PvP. One kill per minute is NOTHING, even in the crucible. 3) Skorris will still be amazing in trials. Rounds in trials of Osiris are currently 90 seconds long, and knowing bungie's lack of polishing skills it is likely that skorris effect will carry over between rounds. If you don't get one kill per round in trials, there's an issue, and disputing that implies that you believe that people who don't get kills deserve super energy faster than those who do: i.e. you think camping spawns is dynamic and fun gameplay. While I absolutely agree that PvP and PvE should be balanced separately, I believe that, with this most recent skorris adjustment, bungie has accomplished that goal for the first time in over two years. Now if only they brought back the stopping power of year 1 primary weapons ...

  • What makes no sense about the whole thing is Yes there are people camping in spawn You've rushed to cap point All you have to do And I know this is hard to grasp Is skorris yourself On cap zone You now have complete map control with skorris The nerf is a solid one, it'll do But for -blam!-s sake Stop with the nerfs

    • I saw how it got abused, when I ran it I did not use it as such. Moreover as a quick boost in running to map control or if we were really close to it in a pinch firefight ducking a corner for a second or two to get a super. The problem came into adding more mechanics and perks into artifacts. In summation it was an awesome perk in a flawed environment.

    • Why couldn't the change have been: In the Crucible this artifact will activate for 60 seconds after each kill, regardless of death. Artifact will continuously charge teammates supers faster while fighting out of the crucible.

      • Best nerf ever. First nerf that doesn't bother pve. If you aren't getting a kill every 60 sec you are already hiding and building super. Has no pve impact. Because they don't separate pve and pvp this is a tipping point nerf. They finally figured out how to only fix the problem instead of changing the entire game.

        • I don't play pvp and I don't give a crap what is done for pvp as long as it is only for pvp. Until a dreg or a cabal or vex files a complaint about a skorri, they should be left as they are for pve.

          • For me it's not really about Skorri getting nerfed, it's the fact that everything that has been nerfed because of PvP/trials and everything that will continue to get nerfed because of PvP/trials has (almost) always affected PvE. Now if it's bringing an unfair advantage to a specific person or team then yes, by all means, go ahead and nerf it into the ground for all I care. Is something underperforming? Go ahead and buff it. Something proving to be absolutely stomping all other guns in fights? Go ahead and nerf it. But keep it within the realm of PvP. Don't let it cross over to PvE and don't make PvE players suffer all because it's being abused in trials or because something is super strong in PvP. Some of us play because we like the PvE aspect, other's play because they like the PvP aspect. We are each entitled to our own opinions and happiness with the game. I hope that we, or at least the one's with actually common decency, can agree with this. Neither side is ever going to be perfect but we SHOULD NOT be throwing one aspect under the sparrow in favor for another. All I'm asking for is in the future, especially in D2, keep PvP balance separated from PvE.

Maybe if trials players didn't just camp their spawns taking turns head glitching and playing peek-a-boo it wouldn't be an issue. Personally I think Skorri was the least of Trials woes. Here's a list of more important things 1. Make Trials less passive. Currently best head glitcher/spawn camper wins 2. Make Trials SBMM. Seriously not score card based. Funny how the "fun" playlist was SBMM and the "Competitive" playlist for the top 1%ers is Card/Connection based. 3. Remove Radar 4. Remove Revives I find it ludicrous that these insanely skilled trials badasses can't root out some spawn camping dummies. Come on top 1% what's wrong with you? I've equipped skorri and never made it to the light house, so it's clearly not that OP. Maybe... just maybe if you killed the other team, instead of camping your spawn just like they are, it wouldn't be an issue. How hard can it be #tagMcyoloswag_420sniper4lyfe?

              • Easy. Artifacts can not be used in pvp. Leave pve alone. Thus game is now trash.

Every skorri post i have seen seems to forget that the change is not effecting the pve side of the game. They want to change the way skorris is used in pvp while not changing the way it works in pve. if you cant get a kill in 60 seconds then you arent playing the game

                  • So all the people who dont play trials cuz its garbage should keep getting hit with nerfs because little kids cant get to the lighthouse? The word "nerf" is making me -blam!-ing sick to hear cuz its all bungie knows its pathetic. It doesnt matter if it makes trials better. In fact most weapon nerfs lately are because of -blam!-ing trials. Skorris nerf isnt so much an issue. Its the fact that this is yet another nerf thats pissing people off

                    • The nerf will effect raid groups trying to charge supers before attempting the boss again. Because as with all things destiny ... ”we nerfed shoulder charge but it appears that this added an infinite grenade glitch while on sparrows and when we tried to fix that, fusion rifles lost all of their stability... Patch fix inbound next week. Fingers crossed."

                      • It's the fact that PvE it's no longer as useful. One of the best things about the Artifacts is that in PvE, you can recover supers from a wipe if you have a sunsinger. Take Siege Engine for example. Everyone uses supers on that strike at the start. If you wipe, all progress made by supers is lost, and all orbs are gone. So Skorri's could be used to get back into the action. And in PvP it required you to think rationally. It pressured one team to plan ahead and attack. If they are all hiding in a corner, you use grenades to force them to scatter. You could just go in guns blazing. I don't play Trials so I might not be an expert, but if in PvE I'm getting kills, chances are so is my team. And if they are getting kills, then they'll be getting supers. Without Skorris.

                        • I agree that rational thinking is what caused the nerf. Keep in mind, that's not the case for most changes Bungie makes. This is why when people even hear the word "nerf" their emotional stability just completely collapses. But in all honesty... if you are playing PvE and you're not getting a kill per -blam!-ing minute... why should you even be on Destiny? That probably means you're not playing, trolling, or doing something else that is just as stupid. I know that not being able to build your team's supers won't stop that stuff alone, but is it really that much of a nerf?

                        • PvE players just don't like changes solely based on PvP complaints. I don't even use the Skorri artifact and I don't like the idea of nerfing it. Will it affect me? Not really. Do I want PvP to affect PvE at all? No, absolutely not. You can't let things slide piecemeal, it's all or nothing. It's moot anyway though, Bungie only cares about PvP.

                        • Why let people camp all round? For skorri to work they need to be very close. If you can't take advantage of that then you deserve to get destroyed by supers.

                          • -skorri campers means you get the cap point in trials for free. Throw some nades on choke points coming into the cap point and you'll be fine. -skorri campers can still be pushed out of where they are, be smart with your grenades/get a pick with a sniper then rush the last two -skorri campers gotta be very close to eachother. If you have a spike grenade and you tag one of them, you probably tagged all three of them, which means you just pushed them out from wherever they were at and are free to engage while they run away

                          • PvP is and has always been crap in this game.... how on Earth could they go from Halo to this awful monstrosity? Take PvP out entirely, and make it a DLC or a completely different game. That way my gameplay is not affected by a bunch of 12 year olds relentlessly crying and creating unnecessary/undesired nerfs. Mythoclast, Necrochasm, MIDA, Black Hammer, elemental primaries, Astrocyte Verse, ToM, Truth, life steal, blink jump... none deserved a nerf but they all got one ( if not removed from current LL) The live team has NO IDEA what they're doing and it's grows more apparent everyday.

It's the fact that skorri had a counter. Why nerf things that have obvious counters ? You know the whole saying, don't break something that isn't broken ? It's called making a smart play to push campers. When you know people are using this artifact and camping, you can determine basically every move they're going to make, pretty much every single round.
