Old player wants to get back into destiny
I haven't played since HOW. What's the best way to get back into Destiny? Can old weapons and gear be upgraded to current standards? What's my best way to go about leveling up level and light? Update me please.

If you're returning and are on the old generation, your best bet is to purchase Destiny - The Taken King - Legendary Edition (or just Destiny - The Taken King if you still have your original Destiny base game). TTK is the final expansion for the Xbox360/PS3 generation. If you're on the new generation (PS4/Xbox One) then your best bet is to get Destiny: The Collection. It'll come with The Taken King and Rise of Iron, both of which add quite a bit to the gameplay where you last were. Sadly, the equipment you have now from House of Wolves won't be upgradable to current tier stuff, but it'll help you in the mission starting in TTK so you can work on getting better gear. If you have any exotics, you can also purchase the Y2/Y3 version of them for Legendary Marks from the exotic weapons/armor kiosks if they're available without doing a quest, and that'll give you a jump start on the next tier of equipment.

1 ReplyWeapons that were from year 1 will not upgrade to the current light level, with the exception of year 1 exotics being brought to year 2 and 3. As for leveling up, it really depends on where you are in the game and where you want to be. Also, depends if you're a solo player or you group up. I would probably just Google the best routes to take, assuming articles found there will go into greater detail.

HoW stuff would all be considered year 1 weapons. Everything year 2 through now can be brought up to 400, but not year 1 stuff.
