Soccer is boring.

95 minutes of gameplay and a score of 0-0? What is so fun about watching a bunch of girly men run around for an hour and a half? I sometimes wonder what in the -blam!- the world is thinking. This is the most popular sport in the world, and but it is so boring that I fall asleep watching it? But then I realized that the reason the world loves it is because they can't afford to play a real sport.

 • Football is a boring sport. I hope we lose just so everyone will shut the hell up about it. Every damn year when it's the world cup in England it's always "THIS IS THE YEAR! WE'RE GONNA WIN AGAIN!" It's been the -blam!- "year" for over fifty years now. [Edited on 06.12.2010 4:04 PM PDT]

 • This thread is filled with invalid opinions really. The OP's, and the people claiming Gridiron (American) Football is easy/ for wimps. I mean, I really doubt any of you guys in the UK have had to put on heavy, thick, non aerated pads and a black jersey and play football in 105 degree (Fahrenheit) heat from 9 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon. You all act like there's so many long breaks in American Football, well, when you're on the field in the heat, in that 15-20 seconds you get is never enough to catch your breath after sprinting after a receiver for 60 yards before hustling back to the line and prepare to the the whole thing again. It's not easy. And, all throughout the off season is working out. You don't want the other team stronger than you, so, you push your body and build your muscles. From January (high school), to September. It's a hardcore sport when the smallest guy on the field weighs 215 pounds and can squat over 400 lbs (about 182 kg). It's brutal, and punishing. And the pads make the hits harder at the benefit of shielding your bones. The thing is, we play our sports and your sports (in fact, most American Football players start out with Soccer when they're young and move to American Football when they get to high school). You guys don't play ours... That's perfectly fine, but, you haven't actually experienced playing American Football. And it's more than just the pain and the tough part. It's also an awesome Saturday and Sunday tradition. Just gathering with your friends on a crisp 40 degree day to play Football with your friends... That's a great and epic feeling. /epic, passionate rant [Edited on 06.12.2010 4:05 PM PDT]

 • You're right. Soccer is boring. On the other hand, Football, as in, in Europe and South America, is amazing.

 •
Posted by: Fishie1
Posted by: ABotelho It's 90 minutes of gameplay, other sports can also end 0-0, and why the -blam!- would you think they're girly? If anything soccer is one of the least girly sports.
I can't think of a single sport that can end in a 0-0 tie. Just sayin'.
Hockey, the most action packed and exciting sport on the planet often ends 0-0, moron.

They haven't moved on to actually having a clock in the stadium to keep the time, and stopping the clock during play. You know, like every other major sport that uses a time keeping system
The time that is spent for injury and what not is added after the 90 minutes.
I think that's a dumb system. I'm sorry for being so blunt, but I just don't think that it's an effective way to do things. Having to add every second you miss because of out of bounds seems like it's doomed for error.

2. Offsides is a stupid rule. How dare that offensive player run past the defense so that he can score. That's just cheating. It's not like it's the defenders responsibility to guard him
If the sport had no offside rule,it would be broken. The teams would just send everyone to the opposing teams goal area.
If they sent everyone to one side of the field, then entire defense would be there to. Why don't NBA teams just have everyone camped under the basket? Why don't NHL teams just have everyone huddled around the two goals. It wouldn't work.

3. Get up you whiners, and stop acting like you got shot in the leg. You were tripped, get over it. You know how many defenders you have to get through just to get a shot on goal? The keeper is also there as well,I can see you have never even played the sport. I understand your point, and I know it's difficult cause I can't play shoot for crap when I play (can hardly pass with any semblance of accuracy), but still, they're pros and that goal is huge. Also, because it's so difficult, shouldn't they start putting up camera to make sure goals go in? Just put them on the sidelines so that the refs can check them, or have a team upstairs do that. There really isn't an excuse for this not being the case yet.
Time keeps going while it's out of bounds Offsides is to keep it more fair They miss a lot because they usually don't get a good shot on goal, usually they are rushed to take shot because of defenders

 • 1. Troll. 2. Tell most of the world that the sport is boring. 3. It's not boring, the only people who say it is are those who watch their first game and it is a bad game. 4. Troll. Once more for good measure. 5. Most popular sport in the world, gf.

 • Last time I checked, the World Cup was a bigger event than the Super Bowl. Odd that such a "boring" sport, as you put it, has such a big audience.
Posted by: Xeena But then I realized that the reason the world loves it is because they can't afford to play a real sport.
It's the world's most financially important sporting event, attracting advertisers, sponsorship deals and a huge television audience. The World Cup trophy alone is worth an estimated £41,764 ($60,607). [Edited on 06.12.2010 2:27 PM PDT]

 • Hehehe, yeah, keep saying soccer sucks and that football rocks, yet no country in the world cares about football, they may play it, but it`s not as popular as soccer. Soccer isn`t a girly sport, in fact, no sport is girly, blame the players for a girly attitude, not the sport, or else you will just show your low intelligence.

 • Football focuses on the game itself, not things happening around the stadium (like half-time shows, stupid blimps, jumbo-trons etc.). Baseball and American Football are not real sports in this sense.
