More specifically, it needs a range buff. Let's put the Thorns past aside and remember that at the end of the day, it's an exotic weapon. The thorn was perfectly balanced when it was nerfed post year 1. The range nerf made it super weak to the point where even the last word can outgun it in the further hand cannon ranges. I'm not asking for a damage buff, or a stability buff, or a buff to its venom. I'm just asking that it be given a bit more range so it can perform well in hand cannon range.

You are only really going to be killing low armor guardians without damage falloff(unless you are getting multiple headshots). The only way to make this any better is to go with aggressive ballistics and then the range becomes very low and fall off damage is very quick. At this point you might as well use the last word. There are times I get 1 head shot and 4 body shots and are still watching them live through the burn that is how bad the damage fall off affects this gun. For an exotic though this guns total stats are very weak(primary and hidden). If the hidden stats are going to remain so low then giving the gun more range should be fine. If we are not going to get more range then the hidden stats are terrible and need a buff.

another way to help out thorn would be to frontload the dot damage. instead of 2 2 2 2. it could be 4 2 1 1 or 4 1 1 1 1(longer duration) or even 4 2 2(shorter duration but could kill faster)... also could go 5 1 1 1 or 5 2 1(shorter duration) and even 6 11(shorter duration)

Thorns hidden stats are far less than most in this damage arctype. we could just buff all of the hidden stats also. I wouldn't mind 80-90 aim assist and faster equip speed.

most hand cannons of this damage arc type have far better hidden stats. As a new user to thorn never using in years past I feel it needs the range buffed by 10(maybe this increases aim assist a little also), and a faster reload. I would not mind seeing it go back to the original 6 rounds(I barely ever get to final round anyways) and increase reload speed by 10 more also. Along with this I think the gun should get a starter perk that kills or assist increase reload speed(on the same scale as feeding frenzy) or maybe just give it feeding frenzy or spray and play(which would go with final round). So +10range, +10relaod, -3 rounds, and starter reload perk.

I definantly would love to see the range buff on thorn and hawkmoon. Also swap rifled in for reinforced barrel on ace of spades. Id be a happy camper if those 3 got buffed.

Thorn and The Last Word need buffs and nerfed separate from every other gun.

I.. have mixed feelings about thorn. As long as damage is not buffed again, I'm ok with a range, or reload buff. I'm just scared that it'll become a monster of a weapon again.

No, HCs already compete with scouts, all HCs range should be at or below Thorns range.

The problem is with that though, is that if these "hand cannons" (*cough* shotguns) got a buff. Everyone would freak out and then bungie would nerf all special weapons and then there would be even more freak out and then bungie would buff sidearms and then the whole destiny community would explode and the game would die at the knees of overwatch.

It has the highest range of its archetype. It does not need a buff and performs perfectly.

They could make the thorn a 2 shot kill and i would still suck with it. People that are good with it wreck. Just like everyother weapon.
