PETITION TO BRING BACK ELEMENTAL PRIMARIES
There was no reason to ever get rid of this as it also made us switch up primaries constantly aswell but lets fight to bring back something great.

1 ReplyElemental primaries were there for use against elemental shields. They are a Philip's screwdriver for use with a Philip's screw. They were removed for 'Bungie logic' to add 'variety' which became: high rate of fire pulse rifles & MIDA. Specifically Grasp and MIDA, until Dragon was added for 'more variety'. Special and heavy ammo were reduced in PVP so PVE battles would last longer. Elemental damage was removed for the same reason. If you 'think' anything else, you've been Bungied!!!

They should bring them back but with some kind of trade off... So pve is not a walk in the park. Destiny needs to be challenging again

14 RepliesBungie removed them because nobody used anything else. They wanted a mix of all kinds of weapons being used, and instead it was VoC, and Fatebringer. Sorry, but no. I enjoyed it when it was a thing, but it's better now.

Bring back ALL WEAPONS AND ARMOR. The main problem with elemental primaries was that they were only raid weapons. Make all primaries have an element. It wouldnt change the game at all.

10 RepliesJust take away the reroll ability and make everything infusable. Bam! fixed the vault space problem, brought elemental primaries back, and gave people reasons to run the old raids again. Your welcome

They could of given all primaries burn. All that was needed for the raid weapons was a set perk that stands out from any perks fitted to non raid weapons. There wasnt any need to take the fat dump they did on year1 raiders who did grind to get there gear and it was a grind not like it is now. We would of still had the diversity in weapon choice if not more because of burn adding more choice to the game.

Okay so I've read multiple threads on this subject and I see the reasoning behind leaving elemental primaries (mostly) as a year one thing was due to two totally legitimate concerns 1) the combo of elemental burn perk and elemental primaries made certain content too easy 2) very few other primaries were being used Of course "well just leave the old ones alone and move the game on" was the easiest solution to execute but how unsatisfying? Why cant we have our cool stuff and bigger meaner challenges? Why can't we find a way to make other primaries more appealing? More widespread elemental damage primaries? An actual reason to WANT kinetic damage over elemental in some situations? Elemental damage or not, a meta will always evolve from players seeking "the best" setup. Elemental burn modifier too much of an advantage? Nerf the damage bonus WE get from it, not the opposite. They had LOTS of other options. Just because a problem existed doesn't mean the "fix" was the right choice. My hope is that they went with the easy fix with every intention of going with the more satisfying solution after they had time to get everything dialed in.

14 RepliesThere was actually a very good reason that bungie removed elements from primaries and that was because they were the only used primaries for the entire first year of destiny. By having primaries with elements 95% of the players base invalidated all other primaries and also the work bungie put into them. So to prevent that from happening again bungie removed the elements from all primaries. If you think of it from there point of view, all the work they put into all the other primaries and to have close to no one use any of them is not good, and there were plenty of really good if not great primaries sold by the vendors and also drops from PvP and strikes and engrams. I know plenty of people who grinded out strikes to get hopscotch during HoW, it had no element burn but it was the best pulse rifle in the game. So all in all elements are not needed on primary weapons at all.
