Introducing: The Flat Earth Destiny Arsenal! Weapon #1. "Rowbotham's Spear".

Weapons are what make Destiny great! Which one of us year one players can't help but look back on the glory days of Gally and Thorn with a wistful sense of longing? Each of us loves certain weapons more than others, and we have all imagined new ones, daring to share our ideas with the community. As a Planar Theorist (Flat Earth Theorist) and avid Destiny player, I am going to take the plunge and share my own ideas for weapons and armor. But be warned: each one will reflect a part of my own imagination, as well as the ideas and facts that I feel to be an important part of my worldview. As such, each weapon or piece of gear that I conceptually suggest will have a name reflecting some facet of Flat Earth Theory, along with perks inspired by Flat Earth physics in the real world. However, I understand that some of you feel that Flat Earth Theory is completely unrelated to Destiny, and out of respect for that sentiment I will post an explanation and description of the Flat Earth principles underlying each piece of gear in a spoiler at the end of each post. As a Planar Theorist, Destiny and Flat Earth realities are inextricably interwoven. But I don't want to force my understanding of the natural universe down your throat, thats why I am placing the core of my ideas in the spoiler. Anyways, I hope you will enjoy and gain a better understanding for those of us that are part of the Planar community. Here is the first. There will be more to come. Thanks! The Flat Earth Destiny Arsenal #1: Robotham's Spear Sniper Rifle Weapon Description: For behold, I sit atop the hilly plane: from whence the enemies of reason flee in fear. Exotic Perk: Coriolis Rejected: Bullet trajectory slightly curves to track enemies. Penalty to aim assist. Kills greatly increase reload speed. Notes on Weapon Stats: The tracking perk would be offset by a smaller mag size of 3. This sniper would ideally pack a good punch with great range, although rate of fire would probably need to be below medium with stability slightly above medium. Given the effects of the exotic perk, reload would need to sit at below medium. Flat Earth Conceptual Background
Samuel Rowbotham was one of the key founders and intellectual giants of Flat Earth Theory. As early as 1849 he eloquently argued against the scientific establishment of the time. In 1881 he published Zetetic Astromomy: The Earth Not A Globe, one of the most compelling works (even today) for Flat Earth Theory. You can find a free copy here if you are interested. In one of his notable achievements Robotham showed that no curvature exists on the horizon. Using the Bedford Canal (a long water way that extends perfectly straight for miles) he measured a friend in a rowboat that steadily rowed away, demonstrating that at no point did his friend "disappear" over the horizon. You can read about the experiment here. The exotic perk Coriolis Rejected refers to the inaccurate spherist idea that the rotation of the earth causes storms to rotate differently in the northern and southern hemispheres respectively. Spherists also claim that the coriolis effect influences the trajectory of bullets due to the supposed spin of the earth. But this has an obvious problem: if the ground rotates beneath a bullet, why doesn't it rotate beneath you when you jump? Or a helicopter for that matter? Why cant planes flying west reach their destination sooner as the earth rotates beneath them?
• In all honesty, I'd actually probably use this.

  • Question about that perk. Does it literally home in on your intended target? And if so, what would the nerf to AA matter if it does?

I wasn't here to try and debate anything, but some of the points you've brought up need adressing. This is all according to my perspective that the earth is spherical, but it is also based on physics and first-hand observation. Why the ground doesn't move beneath you when you jump? Same reason you don't fly off of a moving vehicle such as a cruise ship. Inertia. Momentum. Besides, the rotation is very slow. It takes nearly 24 hours. The coriolis effect only affects objects that have to travel great distances due to the aforementioned slow rotation. If a sniper in the armed forces had to make a 2 kilometer shot and told their CO that they dont believe in coriolis and refused to account for it, they'd be out on their ass faster than you can say "flat." Planes that have to fly south or north actually do have to account for the rotation. If they just pointed at their destination and took off, they'd miss. Correct for rotation, then take off? They arrive on point. I don't know if planes that fly west get there faster, but I'm sure it's a bit faster, yes, as the atmosphere doesn't rotate as fast as the earth, but it does. Think of spinning a cup of water. Perhaps we should look into this further. But remember, the Earth is large and rotates slowly. Expecting to see it rotate is a bit...I don't know the word. As for disappearing over the horizon, you need to travel quite far for that to be apparent. A few miles won't cut it due to the unique way our atmosphere deals with light. Your mention of the canal experiment failed to mention a later bet where another man did indeed prove that the boats being visible was due to this bending of light. The scientific method works only when you're not trying to verify something you already believe. If you want the Earth to be flat or round, your results will somehow support it. All that aside, maybe commercial spaceflight will become commonplace later in our lifetime. Then we can see for ourselves. I'd be interested to see irrefutable evidence though. I've only ever seen Flat-Earth theorists put forward biased and low quality evidence. I'm sure you've got a really good argument somewhere, otherwise this theory wouldn't be so prevalent.

      • I got into trouble once at work because a 17 year old student told me, in confidence, that she was late for class because she was suffering from anxiety about the prospect of being attacked by vampires and werewolves. As sensitively as I could, I informed that there was no such thing(s) and that she was in fact safe from these imaginary creatures. She replied 'You can't force your views on me! You don't know everything!!' She stormed off and complained to her student counsellor. I actually had to attend an interview where I received a reprimand for not acknowledging the validity of her point of view... ....kind of remind me of this. World has indeed gone nuts!

        • Well done and good show. All brilliant illustrations of the true form of the earth, flat. And for me, after recently seeing a pic of another one of the people that were constantly arguing with me when I agreed with you, I'm done. I don't argue these types of things with youngsters. In fact, when I talk to young people in person about these types of things they more readily recognize that they have been mislead by the powers that be and easily accept the earth to be flat solely based on their own 2 eyes. So, I just wanted to say to you Krishna, you are making excellent points and everything you say is backed up experimentally and in conclusion I hope you carry on in this wasteland of children.

          • Good post. I'd be interested if anybody here can find a recent full picture of the entire earth taken from space in one shot. See if you can find one that hasn't been stitched together from multiple 'smaller' pictures then photoshopped after to enhance colours and clouds
you won't be able to. Other than clearly tampered with early Apollo photographs from the 70's there has never been a full picture of the earth taken in one single shot. Research it if you don't believe me
