What's your favorite dialog from any Halo game or book?

Mine is "If you ever fall for a woman, make sure she's got balls"--Buck, Halo 3 ODST. [Edited on 02.17.2011 11:06 AM PST]

 •
Posted by: grey101 Im sorry guys but i just have to do this. Terminal 7 " You don't know the contortions I had to go through to follow you here, Reclaimer. I know what you're here for. What position do I take? Will I follow one betrayal with another? You're going to say I'm making a habit of turning on my masters. But the one that destroyed me long ago, in the upper atmosphere of a world far distant from here, was an implement far cruder than I. My weakness was capacity - unintentional though it was! - to choose the Flood. A mistake my makers would not soon forgive. But I want something far different from you, Reclaimer. Atonement. And so here at the end of my life, I do once again betray a former master. The path ahead is fraught with peril. But I will do all I can to keep it stable - keep you safe. I'm not so foolish to think this will absolve me of my sins. One life hardly balances billions. But I would have my masters know that I have changed. And you shall be my example. "
why are you saying sorry? [Edited on 12.17.2012 12:26 PM PST]

 • Well i am not going to quote it but Johnson's speech that is in four different versions in HALO 2 when he hands over the tank(Scorpion) to Master Chief on the bridge is just too awesome. I would do Sgt. Johnson's injustice if i did quote it. [Edited on 12.15.2012 3:13 AM PST]

 •
Posted by: JobeTheConqueror Oh someone is gonna say it, so I may as well get it out of the way. Kurt's final words in the GoO: "Haven't you heard? Spartans never die." right before he thumbs the nuke detonator, wiping out the Elite forces that ultimately killed him. EDIT: Another random favorite. Captain Ponder, Contact Harvest. "Someday we will win this war. No matter what the cost."
You got it best with Kurt's line.

 • "Relax. I'd rather not piss this thing off". No matter what people say about Halo 2 it had most of the best dialogue in the entire Halo trilogy.

But do not waste my time with talk"
There is much talk and I have listened, through rock and metal and time. Now I shall talk and you shall listen. the gravemind is freaking awesome in halo 2.
Couldn't agree more. I get chills whenever I see that scene. Of course, the greatest line from any Halo game or book is still Sgt. Johnson's "Oh I know what the ladies like."

 •
Posted by: hotshot revan II
"Lord of Admirals. So very many years have we battled. My finest opponent, the Mantle accepts all who live fiercely, who defend their young, who build and struggle and grow, and even those who dominate - as humans have dominated; cruelly, without wisdom. But for all of us, there is a time like this...And for you, that time is now. Know this, relentless enemy, killer of our children. Lord of Admirals. Soon we will face the enemy you have faced, and we are afraid." - The Didact

In this hour of victory, we taste only defeat. I ask "why?". We are forerunners, guardians of all that exists. The roots of the galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of our accomplished generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms, and the impervious shelter, beneath which it has prospered. I stand before you, accused of the sin of ensuring forerunner ascendency. Of attempting to save us from this fate where we are forced to... recede. Humanity stands as the greatest threat in the galaxy, refusing to eradicate them as a fool's gambit. We squander aeons in the darkness while they seize our triumphs for their own. A mountain of responsibility for all things belongs to forerunners alone. Think of my acts as you will. But do not doubt the reality; the reclamation has already begun. And we are hopeless to stop it." - The Didact

"Time was your ally human. But now it has abandoned you. The Forerunners....have returned. And this tomb... is now yours". -The Didact

The Didact is so quotable. Just about everything he says is amazing, but I do find myself spontaneously reciting his introduction speech. Lord of Admirals: 'If we warn them we give the Flood time to spread. You know we have no choice. Cleanse the planet' Haven went with that scene so well. Can we extend this to other media, like Forward Unto Dawn? That has some pretty cool quotes. 'Play it again, please' became pretty popular. I loved Cortana's: 'I need to think' 'Thinking is what's killing you'
Posted by: Decieved Soul "Welcome home, John." "You say that like humanity and soldiers are two different things. They're not." She said that to me once... About being a machine/
That scene was beautifully done. [Edited on 12.12.2012 4:30 PM PST]

 • I quite enjoy the small, casual conversations that the Chief and Cortana exchange across the games. It really gives them both a 'human' side, and presents that they aren't simply faceless, alien killing machines, and that they like to joke around occasionally just like any other group of friends would. Anyway, onto specifics: "Sleep well?" "No thanks to your driving, yes." "So you did miss me.." However, my favorite line technically isn't really a line. It's an outtake. But its sheer hilarity and randomness always manages to crack a smile. "Next one who dies gets it in the rear from ME!" [Edited on 12.10.2012 6:38 PM PST]
