Need help fixing red bar problem

Recently, and what seems to have been after Bungie's last scheduled server maintenance, many players have experienced red bars, bad connections and weasels. So many Weasels. I was wondering if it is possible Bungie accidentally broke what they intended to fix or what not. Many players, including myself, have experienced red bars and weasel error codes, and it seems to have been caused by the last server maintenance. I do not think it was intentional, but Destiny players have become very frustrated with internet connections being in the toilet when Iron Banner comes around. Furthermore, I have had red bars, while my connection is perfectly fine, and I have even gone so far as to restart my modem multiple times to see if that helps. I have two requests for help, one for Bungie and the people of Destiny: Bungie : Please help, we are urgently in need of networking assistance, and we aren't sure where our bad connections are coming from. I think everyone would be okay with servers being down to fix this. We urgently need your help, and it is imperative to everyone's sanity that we figure out why. People of Destiny : I get it, we all hate red bars, and some of us are allergic to weasels, but please, please be patient with others. I have, by people I do not know names of, have been DDoSed because 'my connection made me win' when in reality, I am not the only one red barring. Please, people of Destiny, please be a bit patient with others, and take this connection time to learn how to fight people with 'bad connections.' Thank you for reading this long post, and I don't mean to put any blame on Bungie, and actually don't think that they broke the servers intentionally. I also don't think it is anyone's fault that big companies can't fix the internet they say is 'fast' because honestly, we are all a community here who needs help with internet all the time. -AlmightyBeluga

There are constantly issues at the peering level (ISP agreements to share networks to connect us to content on other networks.). It is a never ending battle to keep things running smoothly in general...and sometimes it just gets out of hand. May simply be getting caught in another round of it. Would be something for your ISP's Tier3 team to investigate. Had another massive wave of issues the last couple weeks. My ISP's forums were lit up with complaints coming through the weekend. Was a thread up about certain Blizzard servers being completely unavailable from one region because of it. You can see some of the pattens forming at various monitoring sites like these: downdetector.com outage.report (yes...that is an address...no .com extension. May not be in some DNS tables yet...but it is an actual site)

  • Hey there, I'm sorry to hear that you're having connection issues while playing Destiny. Sometimes these connection issues are intermittent and just happen once, or for a short period of time, due to network conditions between you, Bungie, and other players. Other times it can be related to your home network, other devices connected to your network, or the connection with your ISP. Take a look at Bungie's quite comprehensive Network Troubleshooting Guide to learn how to get the optimal network setup for playing Destiny. Even when other games seem to be working fine it, it remains evident that Destiny may require a few tweaks to your network to get the best performance. Hope this helps!
