House of Scar Ch. 18

This is long overdue, I'll try to make these more often. Master Thread: Scar Master Post Zatkis was at his trading post in Old Michigan. He took a seat after repairing some Pikes for the Wolves. They were rude but they paid well. I always mind my own business when it comes to speaking with customers, especially if they are of other Houses. Zatkis received a transmission from his uncle, Vesrik. Vesrik was the brother of his father, Taniks, a mercenary as much as he was a psychopath. The only people he didn't try to intimidate was Vesrik and Zatkis. Taniks does not have feelings, nor does he feel pain. He can hold his victims until they die out from age or suicide. After he tortures them he gives them to his medics, just so he can play with them later. Zatkis only spoke with Taniks when he needed a hired gun. Zatkis was tweaking the frequency, and finally was getting the message clearly from Vesrik. Vesrik said, "Hello, Zatkis. It is good to talk to you. Did you hear recently?" Zatkis replied, "Yes, I did. You stood up to the Kings, and you took the stronghold! It looks like Scar might be rebuilt, even after all that's happened." Zatkis was happy for his uncle. Even though Zatkis was a member of House Scar to Vesrik, Zatkis was not sure if he wanted to pledge to any House. He has seen Primes fall, Kells burn, and many Houses fail. It is hard to imagine the dead soldiers not toppling the rest of the Houses. The Kings are the ones with a real chance. Maybe the Wolves, but the Queen will try to hunt them, whether she gets the dead soldiers to do her dirty work, or she kills them herself. Even if Scar did rebuild itself and made an army, Vesrik does not plan to attack the City. But the dead soldiers are blind; they see an armed Eliksni threat, they will ravage the fortification until it is brought low. Zatkis feared for his uncle. Vesrik told him, "I need your help again, Zatkis." The way he said it made it sound like the job is not just a skiff repair. "I am building Teriks Prime, nephew. I am giving my House a right to it's life." Zatkis was breathless. He wanted him to help build Scar a new Prime servitor. "There is only one servitor left though, Vesrik. Teriks-4, yes? Where will we get the supplies for that?" Vesrik had already made plans. "I do not have a mining crew, as you know, to get resources from Europa. There is one place we can scavenge: The Reef. There are areas that the Queen does not reach. We can take the resources from there." Zatkis admired his uncle. He always knew what was best, and they both had a fondness for the Reef. Very mysterious, with resources that could supply entire races. "I can do that. I'll contact my regular customers later, tell them I'm on a supply run. When do you want to leave?" Vesrik replied, "In two days. We will leave for the asteroid 6 Demeter. It is uninhabited and very remote. It should contain the resources we need to build Teriks Prime. House of Scar's foundation has been made, now I must build upon that foundation." Zatkis tried not to let himself sound emotional. He was so happy for his uncle, and sometimes he wished he could be a part of something. But Zatkis has built himself a good life in Old Michigan, near the lakes. He enjoys seeing Eliksni, and on the rare occasions, humans from hidden settlements, come from all across the system to rebuild tech and give him company. Zatkis not only repairs tech, but inspects Golden Age relics either to repair them, or buy them and measure their wealth. He enjoys what he does, but the thought of being a part of a Noble House is intriguing. Cannot imagine what Vesrik feels, holding the survival of a house on his shoulders Zatkis thought. "When we get the resources, I will help you build Teriks at the stronghold. It will not be easy for just one to build a massive servitor." Vesrik let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you. I do not know how to repay you, though." Zatkis chuckled. "You don't need to pay me. Besides, I have been told I have the engineering skills of an Archon Priest. You need my help." Vesrik was about to conclude the transmission. "Thank you very much. I cannot wait to reach 6 Demeter. Do you have any glimmer drills? I only have one." Zatkis replied, "Yes, as a matter of fact I have two. I will bring them to 6 Demeter when we meet." Vesrik said, "Alright, that will be perfect. I'll speak with you in two days. Goodbye, nephew."
