Who's ready for some Campaign? (June 14)

Unlike most of you, I play Halo for Campaign. I don't care about being competitive, shooting my friends, or using a number to add weight to my opinion. I just like an enriching story, spectacular Music (no music in Matchmaking is there?) and shooting aliens. No I don't play it to say "I finished" or for Achievements. I play it because I enjoy it more. In fact, what first got me into Halo was shooting Elites and "Covenant Dance" playing while I wound my way through the corridors of the Pillar Of Autumn. I still enjoy multiplayer, matchmaking, and custom games with my buddies, so I'm really looking forward to using the new Forge and making my own custom games. However, matchmaking in Reach really disappointed me; that doesn't mean Campaign or Firefight will! Can't wait to ride the Pioneer and splatter some Brutes, Elites, Skirmies, and maybe we'll see some new enemies? (source) We're getting a Campaign Demo at E3, which is mid June. (Thank Hylebos for counter) Who else is stoked? Long live Campaign! [Edited on 06.11.2010 11:15 AM PDT]

 • Do we ve a screenshot of the mule? Do we have any information whatsoever on them?

 • The mule was found in the Reach Beta coding. The Pioneer is the Civy Vehicle that we see Noble 6 and Carter riding in Campaign

 • Could someone link a picture to a picture of this "Mule"? And no, don't even dare linking a picture of an actual mule. The "Halo: Reach Mule" is what I want.

 • I don't really agree with all the hate on Halo 3's campaign. I think that while it isn't very replayable, it was one of the best first-playthroughs I'll ever have. I was finishing the fight. I was saving humanity, and the universe. I couldn't have been more excited. I also felt the end was very justified. I thought the Chief was dead...And then he wasn't! My heart was lifted and I was so happy! I think Halo 3s campaign was pretty situational, and had to be very linear and straightforward to tie up loose ends and wrap up the story. Of course, there are things I disagree with, like Johnson being killed for no apparent reason, and Miranda's "to war" line...But I feel the game's story was pretty sound. Though I'll agree, there aren't that many levels I'd go back to in Halo 3, and it was far too short.

 •
Posted by: SHIN MECH BRIAN I can't wait to get my hands on campaign. Aside from Halo 2, all of the campaign missions have been enjoyable though none so much as CE. What I hope makes a grand return are the larger-than-life campaign levels. CE had some really long levels and it's never been the same since.
Aside from Halo 2? That's an opinion few will share, Unless everyone played a different Halo 2 to me...

 •
Posted by: Iain 034 I agree 100% I only started playing Halo a couple of years ago. I got Halo 3 before i had live and played through campaign and despite what many people say, i loved every minute of it. I then got Halo C.E. and F.o.R. for Christmas and became completely hooked on Halo. I the permanently 'borrowed' my brother's copy of Halo 2. I have played all the Halos many times and they never get tiresome. Almost finished Halo 2 Legendary w00t!
Halo 2 on Legendary is brutal. Tartarus takes soo long to kill, even with the Banshee. I hope Reach has that type of Legendary difficulty.

 •
Posted by: SilentStorm20 I was a bit disappointed with the way that the beta played, but I still have high hopes for the campaign. In fact, if nothing changed in terms of gameplay, I would be buying this game mostly for the campaign, and I wouldn't regret that. I replayed the Halo:CE campaign a couple of weeks ago, and it's just as epic as I remember. The chapter "Final Run" from the level Two Betrayals remains the most fun single-player experience in any shooter ever, IMO. And you're right Goat, a large part of that is thanks to the music that kicks in right in the beginning.
Agree 100%. The gameplay changes are a bit iffy in multiplayer, but it wouldn't matter in Campaign.
Posted by: Gareth Lorn I remember the first time I played The Great Journey and had a "zomfgz" moment when I saw that the Hunters were ON MY TEAM. Good times, good times.
I always revert back if they die. They always seem to die at the first outside part with the Brutes with Brute Shots, the Shade Turret, and the 2 Jackal Snipers.
Posted by: AuraSoldier313 I really do hope that Reach's campaign gets the love and attention that it deserves whilst it's in development. Being a fellow campaign enthusiast I can't wait. I'll be jumping for joy also if skulls make a welcome return, It'll give me the opportunity to aim for 1st Mythic conqueror in Reach. If Reach can pull off the amazing levels and music from CE, the stunning locales and sights from H2, and the captivating story development from H3 and ODST, well, nuff said.
Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST's storeis were great. However, I don't think the level design fully captured their potential. Halo 3's Campaign was the most boring for me, IMO. The Ark and The Covenant were a blast, and I've played through Tsavo Highway in a bunch of different ways. However, everything else just didn't live up to Halo 2 or Halo CE for me. I don't know why Halo 2s Campaign is deemed disappointing by many. It's the longest, most "different", it has the most enemies, most vehicle combat, longest Campaign level (Sacred Icon-Quarantine Zone). Halo 2 also had beautiful transitions to cutscenes, because the post carnage report didn't show up after every mission.

 •
Posted by: Robbert014 Okay, you didn't like the Beta, not because you didn't like the gameplay but just because you don't enjoy multiplayer(Matchmaking). I have 2 questions for you: 1: Did you like Halo2/3's multiplayer or did you only enjoyed the Multiplayer off it? 2: When you play Halo, do you only play campaign (yes, you can play FireFight in Reach but I'm talking about Halo2/3)?, Because I think it would get pretty boring after after a few times.
Me personally, I played Halo 2 exclusively for the campaign. My first matchmaking games took place about a month before Halo 3 came out. I can't even remember playing more than two or three multiplayer matches of Combat Evolved. I can tell you, however, that I've beaten "Metropolis", "Halo (Halo 1 level)", "Pillar of Autumn", "Outskirts" and "Truth and Reconciliation" all more than fifty times each. When ODST came out I beat the campaign once a day for a straight week. Halo 3 I didn't care for very much, I found the story boring and nonexistent, and levels themselves moderately enjoyable at best (with a possible exception for "The Ark", which I really enjoyed). Reach, I agree with OP, is something I am looking forward to almost exclusively for campaign. If Bungie announced tomorrow that due to negative input on the Beta, they had decided to remove the multiplayer feature altogether to focus more on the story, my hype for the game would increase. And if they simply said they were dropping the multiplayer, well then I certainly wouldn't be jumping with joy at the news, but it wouldn't exactly do anything to deter my hype, either. Someone early in the thread also said they were going on Reach blackout son to avoid any spoilers. I'm doing the same thing, which is going to make this summer absolutely unbearable. Damn Bungie for ruining my vacation.

 • First, is it just me or did the title change. I want the campaign to feel very Halo 2 and Halo 3-ish. I want to be scared when I see an angry Elite. I want the story to emphasize to the heroism and sacrifice that Noble Team did. I want an ending so good that not only we Halo fans think is memorable, but that everyone in Gaming to remember. I do believe that Halo: Reach's campaign WILL be the deciding factor on whether it will be Game Of The Year or not. I honestly think that Halo: Reach faces a tough competition. Games like God Of War 3 and Mass Effect 2 are both very good (God Of War 3 is good, not very good). I think that Halo: Reach is going to be one of the best (yes, best) games of all time. It will be an example for future developers on how to make a great game. That is all.
