How about instead of dumbing down weapons make each character class weapon specific. Eg. Titan has shot gun and auto perks, Hunter has hand cannon and sniper perks, warlock has scout and fusion. Not sure this is correct but see what i mean. Then buff/nerf the weapons accordingly. This way it makes you lean to play the character class instead of the weapon.

Lets say the Titan can take more hits so he can get in close with melee, hunter can evade a shot, has super fast reflexes, warlock can slow or redirect a shot. When i first saw Destiny i thought it was going to be focused on mastering the class, bit now i feel its just weapon based. Anyone can fire a shot gun, or stand there with an auto rifle. Id like so see how well someone can use the abilities of the class to get the kill. Ya the classes do have their little perks, but it always seems to come down to what weapon is the new meta
