Just was playing with a guy in the taniks strike who would intentionally kill himself at each encounter:
* Entrance: killed himself on the teleporter
* Taniks + adds : ran to the front and died
* Tank : Ran to the front and died
* Final boss: ran to the front and died
He would intentionally put his body in a location he couldn't be rezzed easily so he would not get kicked for inactivity. He was definitely there, but had decided not to do anything. I messaged him asking him not to kill himself intentionally and he replied immediately with "-blam!- off".
I reported to bungie, but this system sucks. People should not be able to intentionally kill themselves like that and do nothing and still get rewards.
In pvp if youre inactive for even a few minutes you get kicked to orbit. The kick to orbit for inactivity system in strikes needs to be improved.
I suspect the pve kick for inactivity system to be much more tolerant than the pvp kick system and also not work at all when the player is dead. This needs to be fixed. Forcing players to respwan when dead in strikes (just like in pvp) after the timer has counted down would be a good first step.

At least you can report them though the system needs to be better. But that will change the day we can report people for quitting early.

Edited by KannibalKlown: 10/31/2016 3:13:20 PMYou think "one" is bad... Like 3 times over the course of a single day of playing. I found 3 different instances where a I got grouped with different 2-man fireteams. Where one of the duo would nudge his teammate around and stuff. One time I started getting annoyed and punched the deactive fireteam member a couple of times so the OTHER fireteam member just danced in place for like 10 minutes until I bailed. I mean, what the hell. I really don't feel like Solo'ing Taniks Walker on Heroic.
-
If I run strikes with randoms, I have no problem with just going to orbit if I get someone like this in my fireteam. On another note, this helps prove why matchmaking raids would be a horrible horrible idea.
-
I just t-bag them when they die cause why not
-
Report him to psn/xbox live, hell get a ban for what he said

I have started dropping my light level to about 360 when starting heroic strikes matchmaking, and when the current strike ends, to find lower light level players, then when strike starts, I bring my light level back up. It appears that nearly all of players with low light level actually tries more then several of high light level players. Prison of elders matchmaking appear to ignore light levels, and I have ran into a player with a light level of 390 getting the fewest kills and was half away and not helping much. Me and the other player at 370 light got more kills.

Because there hasn't been enough streamers to warrant action

Edited by Dampfanator: 10/29/2016 1:21:29 AMI had a guy who was AFK for the first half of the dying mind so i messaged him and said, "don't be that guy." and his reply was, "shut the f*** up". I messaged him and said, "as much as I love doing your work for you it'd be really nice if you'd help out. Because me and this other guy are done doing the strike till you chip in." took about 5 minutes of us all sitting there for him to start helping. Screw people who do that, they are what's wrong in this world. I get that sometimes life gets in the way halfway through a game but if you are intentionally going AFK during strikes get off Destiny no one wants you there.

I've always thought this....how come in PvP you can get the boot in less than a minute but in a strike playlist you can have an AFK'r stuck with you right to the rewards screen!!??
-
Edited by kellygreen45: 10/28/2016 9:03:21 PMHow to you tell the difference between someone being bad....being unlucky....versus gaming the system? Otherwise you screw people out of rewards they have a right to. Last night I didn't get a boss drop from running the Abomination Heist strike on Heroic. Why? I didn't do any damage to the boss before he died, because I was too busy running around clearing out adds and rezzing the other two guys who kept dying because they were overly aggressive in their play. Result....I get screwed for being a team player. PVE play is simply too complicated and too fluid for that kind of system to work, and be fair. If you suspect someone is AFK....or deliberately trying to take advantage of you....LEAVE.!!!!
-
The problem is the system is not good enough it can't tell if someone actually just wrapped a band around the joystick and just left it there the report system needs to work after 5 reports not after 2,00000000000000000 reports.

PoE has a decent afk detection system. AFK player dies in room 1, isn't revived. When the objective moves to room 2, if they are still dead... Boot.
example: afk player dies in Hive phase. You and the other guy clear it and airlock it to set up for Vex. Variks will attempt to move the revive ghost a couple times but can't. The game has no choice but to remove the inactive player from the activity.
This is about as robust and predictable as pve idle timers get at the moment. Strikes could definitely use an overhaul, starting with removing the "joining allies" bit as that inadvertently promotes afk behavior.
-
If he used any bad language in his message report him through PSN reporting as well.
-
Only time I go afk is to hit up the bathroom, eat some food or check something on my phone. Usually, when I'm done, I'll try to catch up or wait to they hit the boss, if they are that close, and atleast help kill the boss. I know I didn't help the rest of the strike, but life is life and things just happen.

I'm for a vote system. It would track the number of afk complaints a player gets. Once they accumulate enough(never more than one per teammate per mission) the game starts actively kicking them. This would take care of people just booting players from frustration but would fix the fact that there is no immediate remedy for players frustrated over carrying an afk player. We all have things come up that require that we set the controller down. Only people who do this often enough to annoy folks need worry

Edited by Kone19ps: 10/28/2016 3:33:35 PMJust quit or don't progress. Had an afk last night like that. I just say down. He seemed to want to battle my patience so I just did homework and caught up on South Park. He left after an episode so like 20 minutes. So you're better off just leaving
Forcing players to respwan when dead in strikes (just like in pvp) after the timer has counted down would be a good first step.
I disagree with this idea, but I agree that inactivity detection needs to be more robust in PvE, especially matchmaking strikes.
