"Balance" and "Nerfs": Let's Bring Back FUN

Here's how you balance things in a game where there's too many variables to consider: [u]Just make everything incredibly powerful:[/u] - Give thorn its pre-nerf stats and poison damage - Give Suros Regime its pre-nerf Y1 stats - Revert all other exotic weapon nerfs; retain all buffs - Bring Icebreaker forward via a Banshee quest - Remove the "Bloom" gun effect from the game - [b]Every Crucible match type (including ToO and IB) uses Mayhem rules (see below for info)[/b] - Buff High-Impact Pulse Rifles for 2-burst kill - Revert HC's back to Y1 range - Add Shot Package to shotgun perk roll options ------------- [u]Now to address specific fixes to help level the field in both PvE and PvP:[/u] - Change Arc Blade to intrinsically apply Invisibility on the initial cast and lasts for the duration of the Super. Invisibility temporarily breaks upon striking with Arc Blade and returns a few seconds after attacks cease while still in Arc Blade; - Replace "Vanish" on Arc Blade with an arc-damage short-range, ground-based dash called "Arc Lunge" that damages everything in caught in the arc trail behind you; consumes some super bar with each use - Change Encore to also make Arc Blade generate additional orbs on consecutive Arc Blade kills. - Revert Sunbreaker nerfs; retain all buffs - Change Hammer of Sol to also intrinsically apply the "Melting Point" debuff on Hammer strikes and charge attacks. - Change Overload Grip to always reset cooldown upon killing an enemy with Storm Grip. - Revert all Sunsinger nerfs; retain all buffs - Change Radiance to intrinsically deal AoE solar damage around player while active; enemies caught in the AoE Ignite - Change Angel of Light to instead increase floof speed and recharge grenade/melee faster while airborne - Change Song of Flame to also provide +5 recovery and greatly increased reload speed to self and nearby allies while Radiance is active -------------------- That ought to please the vast majority of people. Bladedancers, Sunbreakers, and Sunsingers go back to being viable in both PvE and PvP. With Mayhem super recharge and ammo drop rates in ToO/IB as well as full Mayhem rules in all regular Crucible, the game can go back to being FUN. [b]You see, when everything is overpowered, nothing is.[/b] For most, games in ToO/IB/Crucible can sometimes feel like a coin toss with DCs, early quitters, and lag, so why not make every game a coin toss with some FUN?

  • the ttk would drop like crazy. sidearms and fusion rifles would be very weak (because most shotguns would outrange them) and almost all legendary primaries would be useless because exotics would crush everything (mainly thorn etc) i like the pvp how it is roght now (except shotguns are a little bit too strong)

    So you're saying the sunbreaker should be unbeatable like it was at TTK launch? Not to mention it could survive a Golden gun shot back then? Get out.

    • Remove Crucible and make it a standalone game for $60. Take ToO and IB with it. Balance around the actual game and let's have some fun.

      • Why not contain it a bit and have mayhem as the only nerf free mode? You're dying within a second to somebody from a super or heavy anyway, so what does it matter if Thorn can two tap you or suros can headshot you from the moon? That way the guys that think they're playing the lovechild of halo and cs:go can have their balanced boring game play while the rest of us can go nuts

        • Got to love the 'expert replies' from those benefiting from the Child Safe arsenal we now use. A full magazine from an AR to [u]damage[/u] a Titan. A bladedancer able to survive a Gally round to the head and its WPR's! Warlock grenades that can't kill anything (solar) yet a Titan or Hunter grenade is a OHK. My personal favorite: Thorn reduced to a Splinter because a weapon designed to produce Damage over Time did exactly that. Titan Smash able to kill things outside the building, yet a Nova Bomb detonates harmlessly the same wall. Warlock can be killed during his resurrection animation, but a Titan or Hunter can survive a Nova during their animation. Warlocks can evade Nova bombs (Lance) now, literally sidestep the bolt as it goes by! I never knew Warlocks could Evade! I kill you, yet, with no grenade animation on your part, you grenade me from your orb! Hit registration is now RNG... List goes on. This is progress! This is balance! My arse....

          • How to Balance PvP Buff Shotguns to early taken king level Buff snipers to how they were in y1 Buff fusions to y1 Buff sidearms in general Buff Autos to their original form Buff scouts by giving them High cal rounds and do something small like increase handling m Buff Fast pulses to early TTK, buff slow pulses to HoW And now, the killer. Buff handcannons to Yr1 levels, but add the damage falloff we have now. I want my shots to register, but they need dmg falloff to keep them fair Now, in order to make handcannons good, but actually take skill, the Big 3 will receive balance changes: Thorn burn doesn't activate on bodyshots meaning you need to have good aim to beat another user in a gunfight Fix the last word ads glitch, 3 shot bodyshots and 2 shot headshot WHILE ADS should never be a thing on TLW Fix hawkmoon 1 tapping and bring the range down slightly so it's only a 2 tap within certain ranges. Now in all honestly I think this gun has no place in a competitive environment (hence it being banned in sweats) due to RNG gunfights. But they're not going to get rid of it, as it's a wonderfully designed weapon. Now I don't have ideas for subclass balancing, other than NO MORE NERFS. (But I would really enjoy if blink handling speed was brought back. Keep the range nerf, keep the trail, just don't punish me for being fast-paced.) If you want to disagree, please be civil about it.

            • im actyally digging sunsinger buffs. such an underwhelming class in pvp. also all dot that was nerfed should be buffed . either it be thorns/ or viking funeral. why? because the new artifact is in play now.

              • You missed reverting all the sniper changes: 1 - Fix flinch to what it was 2 - Fix zoom on scopes to what it was 3 - Give aim assist back to Mid-high impact tier 4 - Fix ammo carried stats 5 - Revert snapshot nerf

              • In order to buff Thorn without making it too OP, just replace Final Round with Luck in the Chamber. Then it would be capable of 2 shotting people again sometimes, but it would be purely random & luck based (kinda like using any handcannon really).

                  Mate under these changes snipers could one shot body shot you, shotguns would instantly kill you from 8 meters out, since range wouldn't be a issue plus with the damage buffs there would be no reason to use any other primary's except autos and pulses. Scouts would be completely phased out by hand cannons due to sheer accuracy and lack of range. Increases to special and heavy ammo would make primaries less used. Blink shotgun combo mixed with the huge buff to shotguns would ruin almost any encounters under 30 meters. I'm not even going to talk about abilities cause the amount of buffs and changes minus the nerfs would make almost any ability broken. Tl:DR ttk would increase to the point where all weapons and abilities would kill you in milliseconds. OP knows nothing about balance.

                      • Your weapon "balance" ideas are honestly some of the worst I've ever read. Simply making everything overpowered doesn't fix balance. Same idea as making them all feel underpowered doesn't fix it. Chaos isn't fun, feeling as powerful as the other players is fun. In another comment by you below you talked about removing the skill gap, why is that a good idea? Even if you aren't good at competitive gaming you still want to feel challenged so that when you win it feels like you earned it. How will anyone improve if if the game is constantly holding your hand, destiny does this enough as it is. I have no opinion on your class balance ideas because I'm too tired to read that wall of text.
