Exotic engrams decrypting below light level
Last night I had 2 exotic engrams decrypt below my light level. I was 392 and they were decripying at 391. I also had one decrypt at the same light level (I was 391 and it decrypted at 391)....has anyone else seen this? Bungie, I thought these were suppose to decrypt higher up to 400??

This happened to me yesterday I was 392 decrypted 2 exotics and they both were 391.

I saved up 25 engrams because i knew it was the only way plus skel keys and forge at 397 i cant raise any other way than raid hm i had never really done raids before as its pretty hard to get a good team on lfg so my engrams were wasted and now i spend most my time trying to get teams together bungie fix up man you take the piss

1 ReplyI'm at 399 with all my gear 399 or 400. I decrypted 6 exotic engrams today. Every single one decrypted at 399. Same crap different day

Thank you, thought I was going craxy. YES! As of yeterday, my exotic engrams have been decrypting lower than my light, and item light levels! WTF, not want me past 393! Broken shiters!

So I'm assuming this problem HAS NOT been fixed with the festival of the lost? It'd be nice to get a response from Bungie but I'm sure that's just asking too much for them

Me too. Just did 5 myself, and they all decrypted at current light level (393). I also have burned through 47 ToCs and only received 2 exotics. I also noticed that exotics out of cheats in the raid capped at 385 twice. I really just wanted to know if this is a glitch or another intentional way to slow down progression for hardcore players (like the 365-380 legendary grind before the patch)? It would of been nice to know if so. It can be so hard to find a successful raid or trials team, so this was the only way to really level up.

My lowest piece of gear is 399 ive decrypted 10 exotics today... all 399 Always something new, why am I still playing this game?

Hello FlyFishDave, Bungie states that exotic engrams may decrypt up to 400 light, and try to drop at the light level higher or equal to your current light level, but are not guaranteed. It appears you're just getting bad luck, it has happened to me a few times too.

It seems that exotic engrams decrypt into same or below light level of the character, only open exotics from activities such as the raid or nightfall can drop of higher level. Which means if you want to level up your characters with exotic engrams you gotta first level up one of them to 400 so that that character can decrypt them into 400. It's a real pain, because there's no activity besides the raid or ToO that can give chest piece or legs at 400.

Same here - 3 opened today and 2 decoded -1 and one decoded +2. This game has poor rewards for advancing.

Don't feel bad I have the same problem. I have opened 20 exotics and all opened at 391 and I'm almost 392 with 3 characters. Plus I have used 40 3 of coins with 3 characters and no exotic drop.

IMHO, this always happens to me when i get stuck with one or two items that have a lower light level. If you have this problem with for e.g. an artifact just go and do something that gets you an artifact, this because for e.g. an artifact drop mostly from certain activities.

Thing I found is put all your low gear you switch between in your vault and keep on the stuff that maxs your light currently. Won't run into that issue but maybe that's just me.

Yes. My first 4 exotic engrams yesterday decoded at -1, -1, par, and -1.

3 exotics were 391 when i was 392 it seemed to end once i lvled up my 388 boots to 391 and things started dropping at 393 (was 393 at the point) would suggest using skeleton keys to get past the bottle neck since i was able to recive 395 primary from a chest

Edited by Fallout v88: 10/23/2016 4:29:55 PMsame thing happened to me yesterday i decrypted 7 all were 395 i would not mind but all my gear prior to cashing them in is 395 or above (i am quite familar how light level works ) but they did not all go to waist I just used them to bring my alt up , but seriously this needs to be fixed and soon please bungie. if you have alt that is near try to decrypt them I managed to break the chain through my alt who near .
