I think it just depends on the player, but I do seem to do better with sunbreaker. My friends who play Titan all seem to prefer striker, and that's mostly what I see in crucible for some reason. Striker does have useful stuff outside of its super, but they mainly entail getting too up close and personal for my tastes. My playstyle is more mid to long range - good versatile range primary but mainly mid range, high impact sniper, and a very stable machine gun. Constantly watching radar and avoiding close combat until super's ready, at which point I like to just run in and go out in a blaze of glory, chucking hammers.
