Does anyone think that people are taking the internet too seriously?
Now don't get me wrong, the internet can be a very powerful tool. But you have these people on social media that think they're some kind of internet arbiters and say stupid shit like how they will "wage war on trolls." Seriously, this is Twitter, not the 11th century Middle East. What's dumber is how these stupid conflicts leak out into real life. From people losing their jobs to presidential candidates considering a meme as a white supremacist symbol. I doubt that the people that engage in these "meme wars" go outside often. Next thing you know, people will be getting 10-15 years in jail because they disagreed with someone else on Twitter.

Just as serious as people who go out of their way to be unrelenting trolls and racists. All under the guise of "herp derp you can't take a joke?" Maybe if those lonely keyboard warriors had a sliver of empathy, things would be better.

The problem lies when people are silly with a serious topic, or serious with a silly topic. Many online interactions that might jeopardize your employment are very serious. If you're a public figure or a representative of a company/organization, your online posts/statuses/photos might make your company/organization look bad.

Liking or sharing a post does not mean you've contributed to saving animals from cruelty.
