Add infuse to year one raid gear

Edit: I've read many of the replies that this post brought and decided to make it a little more specific see what you guys think and see if we can get a comment from Bungie. One very good point was made that all year one gear would be unfair because much of it is now unattainable thus new players wouldn't have the chance to get it. That's why i changed the title to yr1 raid gear. Another good point was that the raids would be too easy for those with current max light. So below i have a couple ideas. First bring hard mode for yr1 raids, Vault of Glass and Crota's End, up to par with yr2/yr3. Also only allow drops of the infuse versions of the raid gear drop in hard mode. Granted the armor perks may need to be reworked a little. The next suggestion I have is make the Primary raid weapons exotic and leave the perks and elemental damage just as they were before. Though I hope they leave the drop rates the same as I know some people played forever to get some of them. If this option is chosen they would also have the chance of returning elemental trials primary weapons by making them exotics as well. Thanks again for the likes guys. Hopefully we can get them to change their minds, fix this, and make some great gameplay relevant again. I understand that it would take time because of the changes that would have to be made. You advertise getting the whole collection with rise of iron the same as you did with ttk however no one plays the first 2 raids anymore because the gear is obsolete. With rise of iron or an update shortly after I'd love to see infuse be added to year one raid gear so new players can experience vault of glass and Crota's end and veterans have a reason to revisit them. Even if we only get armor infuse I'd be happy because everyone still has reason to play the old raids again and get rewards.

  • Abilities were to good. They would need to implement year 2 perks on those armors so won't be overpowered.

  • Well this was my idea for the raids at least OK the idea is the way the can bring back the old raids and not mess up current progression is to-     First: raise the light levels to weekly strike difficulty levels(third difficulty mode)     Second: replace all armor drops with replica armour of the raid gear with 3 light level and have it act like spectar armour(so you get the looks without making The current content obsolete)     Third: replace the weapon drops with the knock off versions they have now, but also do the 3 light level thing so you cannot gain addition light from the old raids     Fourth: add a special raid ghost for these activities. Addition idea: if you have the vex or necrochasm you can do a quest involving these raids to get them upgraded to the yr2/3 versions. Lore explanation: The guardians get ahold of golden age VR technology and use it to help train the newer guardians. They have the VR machines set to simulate the big events of current history(vog, CE, kf) and for completing these simulations the vanguard reward the guardians with new armour and weapons.(that's how there is multiple sets of the raid armour rolling around, they are not the original pieces but replicas.) Tl;Dr-to bad you have to read it all :( ------------------------------------------------ Alex red bb/Mecha75 Edit:addition ideas added from comments

Could relate too the siva tech
This ^^^^    By up'ing the light level and transform the enemies into current story enemies (i.e. If they did this last year then Atheon would be Taken).  They could reskin the armor and raid weapons to reflect those changes as well.  Add to it that they drop at the max light of the new Normal raid (i.e. Max light would be 320 right now. Infusible though).
Clarification edit: this idea is also meant to continue on as we get new raids ex: when the rise of iron raid is released kings fall would be added, then when the next raid is introduced the rise of iron would be added to it. Then there will always be that much extra to do. Without taking away from the current content.

  • Actually just made a post about the old raid armor. Don't care too much for the guns, I have plenty of reskinned versions of them to make up for it, but the armor was and still is priceless.

  • I don't care for elemental primaries tbh I just want the old content to be content and I want my vanilla tdyk to be brought up to roi dmg and light.

  • Don't allow players to infuse raid gear that is now easy to obtain. But, increase Y1 raids difficulty and add higher level gear (identical to original) and let that set be infused. The point I'm trying to make is everybody could do VoG easily and infuse with high level engrams. If it were harder to reacquire this gear it would make Y1 raids relevant again and let us get our favorite gear again.

    • My weapons tab in the vault is about 25% full with my year one favorites that I refuse to unceremoniously dismantle. I loved those guns so much. It broke my heart when Bungie made them obsolete.

      • Won't happen. At the very least they'd make you go and get another version to infuse, the ones in your vault won't ever be infusible. I expect they'll retool the old raids eventually but put a TTK spin on the weapons, i.e. remove primary burns and have a few different rolls.

      • They have had plenty of time. I personally probably won't be buying RoI simply because any and all weapons and armors and activities that exist in this game should ALL be relevant (infuseable)

      • Year 1 gear had op abilities that's why they won't bring year one gear specific back. They r likely to update them but not allow you to infuse old stuff.

      • People have got to accept that progression in this game invalidates your old gear. I don't get why so many people have a problem with it.

          • They're moving Y2 gear forward. If this does not become a thing for Y1 gear as well, I have no reason to buy RoI. Period. But in order for Y1 gear to return, they also need to make elemental primary weapons a thing again. Still waiting on word on that as well.

TL;DR at the bottom. From a development stand-point, they won't. The issue isn't time, or difficulty. The issue is that if the original raid guns were brought into line with our current ones, we'd stop using the new ones in favour of the ones with elements again. Making the point of making new loot, in a loot based game, pointless. And it's JUST the raid guns. They've slowly been giving us back weapons. Hell even the the BEST guns have come back to us. Imago Loop and Tread upon Stars are Fatebringer and Vision of Confluence just without an element. Black Spindle is Black Hammer, just as an exotic. The issue is, and only is elements. From a game and developement standpoint, not one of the players, that actually makes sense. However, they went about fixing it in completely the wrong way. The issue was: Guns with elements, in PvE we wouldn't use anything else. So what did they do? take them away. What else would have worked? Giving them to all guns. Why didn't they? to nerf us. Now, they weren't all that powerful, really. The other claim was that "they made special and heavy weapons less meaningful", while at the time this was ONLY really true when an Elemental Burn modifier was active, allowing Scouts and Hand Cannons to hit nearly as hard as sniper (as hard with Small Arms active), mostly only for the Nightfall activity, allowing us to clear tier 1 and 2 without even needing to pull out our 'big guns', to save all that ammo for the bigger guns on the bosses. However, while a Burn wasn't on (so, most of the game), this was almost strictly not true. While it helped make Primary weapons not balls bad against tier 2 shielded foes (but still kind of feel that way during an endgame activity), they by no means took rolls away from the bigger weapons. Even so, taking away the elemental damage wasn't enough for Bungie, they also reduced the bonus damage Guardians deal with elemental guns in general from x3 to x2. TL;DR Basically, they took them away from us strictly to make Nightfalls harder (or any mission with a burn on it). It was a nerf to overall player power, less than attempt to fix the "Weapon Diversity Issue".

There's already a bubble on Y1 gear for Etheric Light. All the Devs would have to do is switch that to Infusion, and change the numerical value of the increase so that the increase would bring the Y1 weapons up to TTK/RoI standards. This is actually a very easy thing to code since both the Etheric Light and Infusion systems have been in the game for so long already. The only thing stopping this is pure stubbornness and vanity on the part of the Devs. They'll move the -blam!-ing heavens to keep from having to admit that they were wrong about something...

              • I would enjoy this a lot as I see my character's iconic guns being some of the year 1 guns. That said. In every MMO (I said it Bungie. Stop trying to deny it.) the new content adds new gear that is suppose to make old gear obsolete. But Destiny being a shooter has an issue most MMOs don't face. Guns in shooters are generally very static. Even in Borderlands; which lets not deny Destiny pretty much is a super serious Borderlands rip...back on topic... So when a player gets a gun. That is the gun. Period. Year 1 had very solid guns due to this. Year 2 however has had an influx of what most call stalling tactics. Perks that honestly barely contribute and improve gameplay, a vicious RNG system that does NOT favor the player at all, and it's all to try and keep the carrot at the end of the stick dangling. Add in the hell that is PVP. Bungie honestly is stubborn as a dead mule. If they simply separated PVP & PVE stats/dmg and/or had perks have a pve function and a pvp function then I feel that A LOT of year 1 gear would still be circulating. But yr 1 guns gave older players an immense advantage over new players. And advantage that time could not fix. The sad thing is... At launch Bungie wanted folks to be proud of their loot, and be able to "tell a story" about the weapon/armor they are using. But right now that doesn't exist. They treat yr 1 weapons like cancer (Extreme I know.) and are doing everything they can to push players into deleting them. So, Bungie, you want us to erase our stories?
