Anyone want to help a newbie later?
I'm lost on how to get better gear and where to get it. Someone help me after work? I'm level 40.

Since you leveled up from 1 to 40, you [i]should[/i] be able to understand the concept of how things work in general. You can get some better loots (or higher level) by just playing and RNG will drop some sweet loots. And buy some armor/weapons with Legendary Marks at the tower/Reef will be helpful too. Be sure to use the infuse to help make your armor/weapons get stronger. EDIT: Keep in mind that you may not get the stronger armor/weapons right away. However, slowly but surely, the RNG drop will give you stronger/higher level and, if you want, you can infuse it into your favorite armor/weapon. It may take a while to get higher level (aka a lot of grinds.) All I can say is keep playing the Strikes or level up the factions (Dead Orbit, FWC, etc.) Also one good place to play more is the PoE (Challenge of the Elders). Find someone (at least two) to team up with you and grind away.
