Let's Talk: Crota and the Darkness

Crota, the Hive's god-like being. Here's what we think of him: - Commands legions of Hive - Wields a sword of Darkness - Approximately the same size as a Hive Knight (maybe taller) but probably a hell of a lot stronger - Probably not a god - Likes the colour green In Destiny's main story, we already have killed a "god". The Heart of the Black Garden was called a god by our very own Ghost, but I don't think that's what it is. It was as much a god as the Traveler and, most likely, Crota are. They are extremely powerful beings which are worshiped by different species. Here's the thing though, what is Crota? What are the Hive? My theory is that the Hive are spawns of Darkness rather than the Darkness themselves. They need it to survive and it probably creates them in some way, but they aren't IT. Crota on the other hand, well, he looks like a Hive. He probably is some sort of Hive, just far more powerful due to the powers the Darkness has granted him in some way; be it through a gift/curse or his own will. (and I don't mean Omnigul, or maybe I do, I'm not sure). Here's one thing I can almost say for certain: The Hive are so far the only enemy in Destiny that actually use and are on the side of the Darkness. I don't think the Cabal care for either side, the Vex seem to have worshiped the Heart of the Black Garden but are more focused on becoming one with reality/physics, and the Fallen release some sort of Light when they die. All the enemies also use different forms of elemental Light; the Hive might draw that from the Darkness though. Still, even the Hive could very well use some form of Light for all I know. So if we haven't seen the Darkness yet, what does it look like? A big cloud of dark smoke? Doubtfully, it would have to take a physical form (not including the Hive) at some point. What about dragons? Well, I wouldn't call them dragons. their proper name is Ahamkaras, but we don't know much about them. They are dragon-like though. Could they be dragons of Darkness? If so, then the Seraphs could be the dragons of Light. All of this is just me putting some thoughts on a screen for others to read and discuss, and I do mean discuss. Let's talk about this game. While a lot of the story is in the NPCs' lines and the Grimoire cards, it's still there. You only have to reach out and take it to learn. So, let's talk. Theories and questions are welcome (but I'll surely make another question thread soon enough). Update After some in-depth discussion, we believe that the term "son" used in the context of Crota's relation to Oryx is a loose term. Similar to how Jesus Christ was both the son of god and god itself in the Bible, we think it may be something like that. Charlemagne: Oryx was a King of some sort, and his son is Crota. I'm not sure what that means anymore since my previous theory was mixed up with Osiris. Furthermore, the Sword is on Earth (and the Moon I believe). It's clear what's happening. With each kill, we charge it and add to the Sword's, and ultimately Crota's power.
