The way things should be

(Okay so this is gonna be long and there isn't gonna be a tl;dr so sit tight or leave.) This is going to be an example on how classes should play in pvp as bungie has made it clear that its here to stay to the dismay of many, (including me). However I'm here to make the best of this situation with providing a baseline that for each class that can be used when discussing class balance with exotics and subclass perks. Its worth to note that this won't contain a massive list of changes to specific subclasses and exotics and will instead focus on how the average playstyle would be that makes the three classes unique yet with the same capabilities like bungie wants it. (There may be a few specific changes suggested that would help the class/subclass fall in line with other suggestions however.) The way I came up with the changes actually makes a sort of rock paper scissors affect with the three classes consisting of. Titan < Warlock < Hunter < Titan Despite what this says it does not mean that the classes would hard counter each other as other factors need to be taken into consideration such as player skill level, who is in their primary's preffered range, and so on. This just means that the class is better equipped to fight the class they "counter" than and ill equipped to fight the one they are "countered" by. First things first, there NEEDS to be an overhaul made to the armor, recovery, and agility stats, as right now the only stat worth having is armor and maybe recovery, and there is still very little difference between those with maxed and low builds. The playstyles mentioned below would require a massive change be made to the current stat system Titans Okay I'm going to be upfront about this, I don't have a titan and if you're going to stop reading this because of it your going to miss out on a lot as the changes made to all classes are based around what bungie has put in the universe and in the current kits for each subclass. Anyway as many can agree, titans are frontline soldiers who specialize on taking the brunt of the enemy attack and dealing raw, straightforward damage. No gimmicks, no tricks, just a good-ole fashioned bullet to the brain or fist to the forehead. Titan's high armor give them an advantage at close quarters as they can get up close to quickly end the enemy before he does the same to them. First change I would put is to actually increase how quickly the melee animation takes place, allowing the titan to pull off two rapid melee hits before the enemy can react. Titan melees are self-explanitory but titan grenades should be used to either zone, or to help assist kills by weakening targets. (Not counting fusions here as they are a sticky) Hunters A hunter's greatest weapon should be their ability to dodge and flank unknowing targets. Positioning should be key when playing a hunter as getting the first shots in on a gun fight should be a priority due to their squishy nature, but if an engagement goes sour they have the agility to allow them to leave before things get worse. A change I could see is to make jumping around and hip firing a more rewarding experience, not only would this make weapons with hip fire accuracy more useful, but it would also make hunters hard to hit while in a gun fight. The primary objective with hunter grenades should be to give the hunter more map control, not just with AoE grenades but with grenades that can harass and overwhelm the enemy. Bladedancers may need the more changes to keep them relevent as changes to the titan may make them hard to use effectively. Bladedancers are characterized by a high risk high reward playstyle and should be as such, increasing base melee damage should be a good choice, and maybe even the ability to use blink strike as a throwaway for extra mobility. Something should be done to the radar to make flanking more effective for all classes as the range can help you see that there is some one trying to get around from very far away making a flank easily forseen unless they are hardscoping and not paying attention. Warlocks Warlocks have a very special place on the battlefield as they have no agility or armor, but they do have their light. Warlocks specialize in using their abilities for high burst damage and will need their abilities up if they want to be fight more than one enemy on quick succession. A warlock in a fight with their abilities on cooldown may not be a dead warlock but they certainly may look like a ghost. Warlocks have to put their enemy down fast or else they have no escape or armor to help them out. Warlocks right now have very good abilities that go with this playstyle and if there are any changes need to be made it would be to sunsingers but thats a mess for a whole nother day so its being left out here. There may be issues regarding warlocks' dependence on their abilities as they may find themselves in bad situations more often then not to no fault of their own, so there may be a need to make changes down the line if this class balance overhaul would be implemented for some strange reason. Now I know what your thinking, "what about that rock, paper, scissors thing you were talking about earlier?" Well I just got there. Warlocks are better equipped to face titans as their grenades give them a lot of damage very quickly allowing them to bypass a titans's high armor. Hunters are better equipped to face warlocks as their superior agility allows them to avoid a warlocks autotracking, and a warlock's squishy and immobile bodies are easy prey for a hunter's grenades. Titans are better equipped at fighting hunters because their high armor allows them to shrug off hunter ability damage, while also preffering areas that are hard for a hunter to outmanuver them. Remember, these baselines should not be applied to the current class dynamics as this is titled how it SHOULD be, not how it is. Also remember that the, xclass < yclass, doesn't mean hard counter but simply better suited to fight a 1v1 against each other. I believe if Bungie was to follow models like these then we can not only improve class balance but we can also help create some team based elements. This is just my silly opinion that Bungie most likely won't see but I had to put it out here anyway as to at least get my word out because it doesn't hurt to try. Edit 1: why is this on the trending page? It only has 4 likes. Edit 2: I'm actually surprised how many people that disagree with me actually aren't being assholes about it. My faith in the community has (partially) been restored! I just don't know what happened to Randy, poor Randy.

 • You were right. I stopped reading at "I don't have titan" The last thing I'm going to do is read a ridiculously long post that starts off by trying to change something they have literally no experience with. Bye scrub.
